Adjustments to the Reward System on the FreeCompliments Community

Last week, I asked the FreeCompliments Community about whether they’d like to keep Ecency Points and DVS/DHEDGE as rewards, giving their changing and/or decreasing utility. This led to a variety of opinions, certainly with mixed results and a rather unclear outlook. However, some opinions did stand out, and I’ll address them here, as well as our direction moving forward.

Changes to Ecency and DVS/DHEDGE Rewards

For now, we’re going to keep both Ecency Points and DVS/DHEDGE as part of our reward system; however, we’re probably going to decrease the delegation we give to Ecency and thus slightly decrease the rewards we give out in terms of Ecency Points. We’ll focus on allocating our Ecency points towards promoting content, as per our usual protocol.

We’re going to keep DVS/DHEDGE on board for now; however, if we’re not seeing any positive changes over the next month, we’re likely drop them. Over the course of the last 5 days, the entire project has been, from my perspective, in complete failure mode (no DVS votes, delegations not giving out rewards, the DHEDGE command still not working, dropping price of DVS/DHEDGE, and @taskmanager not replying to people). At the moment, it looks like an abandoned project, but I’d like to give it a chance to revive before closing it off completely.

LEO and HSBI

By popular demand, we’re going to introduce the LEO token as part of our reward system! I spoke to @anomadsoul, who agreed to allocate 150 LEO tokens per month to the community account, and we’re going to model our token distribution as part of our reward system. More details will be forthcoming, and we’ll likely begin this distribution as part of April rewards (which will be given out in the 1st week of May).

We’re also going to delegate a portion of HP to leo.voter so that we have additional LEO in case we want to distribute more or possibly even stake it.

HSBI was also a popular alternative, although that’s definitively tougher for me to produce (I’ve funded most of it out of pocket, and with HIVE’s price increases, it’s becoming harder to get more HIVE by day/swing trading). Thus, we’re also going to use some HP to delegate to accounts which produce HIVE income tokens (i.e. tokens that give out HIVE as rewards). This will allow us to give out more HSBI as we get more liquid HIVE. This week I’ll try to figure out which option gives the best returns, although I’m keeping an eye on EDS as a primary choice (we already have a 1000 HP delegation!).

Other Types of Rewards / Payments, Suggestions

If anyone has other suggestions as to how we can use Ecency points and DVS/DHEDGE (or even regarding discontinuing them), or the usage of other 2nd layer tokens as part of our reward system, I’d love to hear your feedback!

Conclusion

We’re making some adjustments to our reward system in accordance with community wishes, and I’d love to hear more of your thoughts. Please let us know what you think – your feedback is going to be highly valuable and essential for the future of this community’s reward system!

Dear Community, I'm following up on last week's post about changing Ecency and DVS/DHEDGE as rewards, so please take a look at the changes I'm considering and let me know what you think! Your feedback is essential, as it will influence how we proceed with our reward system in the foreseeable future.

It is so sad to see the DHEDGE and DVS project not on track for the past three weeks.
I don't know what is happening, but it is possible that the activities resume.
I will propose for alternative rewards system Splinterlandshare SPS or Hive Power if it is possible
Thank you

boosting HSBI while HIVE is high or rising, definitely not like a smart move. but it goes back to each people preference.

Leo might not be the best, however its still a good option.

It's definitely a tougher time to increase HSBI, but it's one of the most reliable things out on HIVE (big kudos to @josephsavage by the way, just tagging you to give you the compliment 😁) - and of course, I'd only add on as much as I can, and not overextend myself. The reliability is an important factor for me to consider. However, I'm still searching through other options. We'll figure it out over time!

The good news is that while it's more expensive in a rising HIVE environment, the same size upvote delivers more value at payout. That's harder for somebody accumulating their first whale stack, but good for somebody already stacked.

Good news is that I plan to keep stacking on the community accounts for a long time (barring major negative life events, naturally). 💪

The proposed short-term changes sound good to me. I'm really sad about the DHEDGE project, as it's one I've loved since I arrived in Hive. I really hope it recovers. In terms income tokens with which I have experience that pay out HIVE, you have BRO, LGN, DBOND/DABS, EDS, BXT, and COM (pays out SWAP.HIVE), and all of them can be received from delegstions except for BXT. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I actually have basically all of these except COM! I did read what COM is all about, and while it's a useful project, upon my calculations the returns are actually rather small. For instance, I calculated that delegations would give about a 5% APR in terms of SWAP.HIVE, and about 11% in total (assuming the price of COM does not drop - and with 2nd layer tokens, that's a poor assumption lol). SIM actually looks like a better option - even with depreciation, it still retains a very strong APR, and for the moment appears to be bottoming out in price.

That's great to hear, and yes, the returns on staking COM are a bit on the low side, but the daily drips that I receive of SWAP.HIVE really come on handy with adding assets to various diesel/liquidity pools, which I also do every day. Most of the SIM that I have presently is in the SWAP.HIVE:SIM liquidity pool, so I can't speak on it in terms of HIVE payouts. There's also DRIP, but I don't think that there's an account to which you can delegate to receive it. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

So the payouts for SIM (even in the liquidity pool) are >35%! With the price being as stable as it currently is, it's something I'm strongly considering (although I'm keeping an eye on it for now to ensure it stays stable... also until I get more funds available LOL).

Drip is also an asset I have! I received most of it from a liquidity pool. From what I read, however, with daily compounding the returns should be >150% (just in terms of getting more DRIP, assuming a steady price), plus HIVE but with an APR I did not yet calculate, and that it will have decreasing returns over time.

I'm also thinking of NEOXAG - apparently sending in ~700 redeems a 100% vote from neoxiancityvb, currently equivalent to a vote of about $0.66 (of which half goes to us). A delegation of about 3000 HP gets enough NEOXAG to do this daily! It's actually a very underrated deal because 3000 HP would certainly not give us such a large daily vote. I'll soon be delegating a decent chunk of HP there, so the vote value will be even higher.

I very appreciate how carefully that you calculate the token returns so thoroughly! I should look more closely into SIM.

All the DRIP that i have also came from diesel/liquidity pools. I don't have much, so I can't speak on it with any real experience yet.

That info on how to use NEOXAG is fascinating! I love it! I do that sort of thing too, always seeking to leverage the assets that I have to create maximum benefit and growth. Great job! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Wouldn't it be better to grow Hive Power and curate big instead of depending on other projects, who could abondon and change over a period of time. I don't know

There's definitely some risk involved, but I'm looking specifically for projects that give better returns than just simple curation, and have had some history. I've definitely found some good ones which have been around for years, and I'll be integrating them into the project.

The current curation account @fc-curation is primarily focused on HP growth, however. Its only delegation is to @dustbunny to cover the tiny votes it gives out on certain comments.
