Maximizing The Last Days of 2025

A very productive day today, not only I got almost thirteen thousand steps, but we also went for a walk on the beach. We saw these birds sitting on the log in the middle of the Puget Sound.

I have also figured out how the Hunter Douglas blinds in our kitchen are powered. It was flashing red and not opening or closing the blinds. I found a small white box with a button and a port on it, but it didn't look like any charging port for Hunter Douglas that I have seen before. So I took off the blinds finally and discovered that there is a battery case inside the blinds with eight double AA batteries inside. I replaced the batteries and the blind remote is working properly again. I have replaced a battery inside the remote about a month ago as well.

In addition to figuring out the blinds I was able to fix an improper electrical wiring in the garden shed. They ran an extra red wire and had a switch plus switch combined with electric receptacle where the water system plugged in, then the red and white wire and ground wire continue to the flood light and security camera from Ring.

The problem was that they mis wired the white wires which resulted in two hot wires both red and white wires showed as hot on voltage meter. I corrected the mis wire and all of a sudden the flood lights and security camera from Ring started working, which previous owners said that it never worked.

I did buy a new Ring camera because I thought that their old camera just went bad. So now I have an extra camera laying around in my garage. The return period is way past due, so I was thinking about installing it in front of our garage, but wife is against me drilling the garage wall to run the wire outside.

I also was able to partially figure out how the audio video networking rack in the media room works. Turns out for video the previous owners had a Roku device plugged in which they took with them. I have ordered a new Roku device on Amazon and that will take care of at least two TVs out of seven TVs around the house.

The other TVs seem to have been disconnected from the audio video rack by the previous house owners and upgraded to the latest Samsung TVs, which is too bad as they got rid of the integration.

But I guess other than sound systems the latest TVs are really easy to connect to online streaming services via WiFi. I still have to figure out how to play the music in the kitchen and outside on the deck. I think those are controlled via iPad on the wall, but I still have not figured out how that works with Control 4 in the audio video rack.

Plenty for me to do around the house still, we decided to install a couple locks on the doors for potential Airbnb type use scenario. And I will probably need to contact the company that installed the audio video rack.

Tomorrow wife is going to be working and I plan to take our daughter to the beach once again. She really enjoyed going there and so did I. Even during the winter Puget Sound beaches are gorgeous and really calming.

Also, yesterday I presented the last part of my Christmas present to our daughter. This is her first Inkari extra large alpaca:

During this Christmas season I have not even posted the second Splinterlands challenge post. I have ran out of time for writing a post for the Pathways to Power challenge.

Glad you manage to solve the things you want to solve at home. Hunter Douglas is a pretty solid brand for blinds systems, I use it at my place too

I have ran out of time for writing a post for the Pathways to Power challenge.

Because of the holidays, it appears the Splinterlands challenges have been pushed back too. It's showing that the path to power challenge still has 2 days left. You've got plenty of time. Good luck!

Electronics are always fun and sometimes challenging my friend!😇
Sounds like you fixed some problems or previous owners could not!👍😊

So annoying when they don't do things properly. It always ends up adding so much work. I feel like every time I try to do something in our house we run into that.

Yes, the pros don't do stuff right, they do it quickly and if you don't know how to check they get you every time...

Getting stuff done around the house always feels good but damn you went all out, fixing blinds and rewiring electric stuff in the shed plus sorting out that audio video mess is no joke, I was thinking to kinda do the same with my studio room, my pc setup is kinda messy and dusty atm, thinking to start fresh 2026, I kinda feel the same when getting a hair cut jajaja dont know why. Feels like a win when something like that happen how the previous owners just assumed it was broken when really it was just bad wiring, at least now you got it working and have an extra camera sitting there which could come in handy later, end of the year for me is always about getting prepare and setting goals, the problem is just to stick to the process, thx for sharing
