The canal served peak drama today—bare trees doing interpretive dance in the wind, moody sky debating between “ominous” and “inspirational.” The water, of course, mirrored it all like it went to therapy.
Halfway through, the clouds cracked open and tried to sell me hope with soft lighting and rural serenity. I didn’t buy it, but I took the free sample.
And then: the ducks. One mallard keeping it minimal, one mandarin flexing every color in the crayon box. She looked bored. He looked like he was the event. Honestly? Power couple energy.
Final stretch was quiet. Just me, a long road, and the temporary freedom of not being someone’s notification. Inbox still sucks, but my shoes are muddy, my lungs did some actual work, and nobody died. I’ll call it a win.
Back to it. The calendar’s already side-eyeing me.
