Two Walks, One Friday, and a Sky with Split Personalities

Some days you plan a walk. Other days, life throws you a curveball… and hands you a bonus stroll instead. Today was the latter.

The day started off in full grayscale mode, clouds crowding the sky like overbooked passengers on a budget airline, winds sharp enough to make you question your choice of a light jacket, and a mood that whispered, “I might rain on you… I might not.” Classic passive-aggressive weather.

But right around lunchtime, the sky started reconsidering its life choices. The clouds began to part, revealing a few hesitant patches of blue, and the wind lost interest in bullying pedestrians. By evening, it had done a full 180—sunlight spilled generously over the canal path, the trees turned golden, and everything suddenly looked like a Windows wallpaper. So I did the only logical thing: I went for round two.

The numbers? 17,000 steps, 14 kilometers walked, and at least six mental photographs bookmarked as “wow.” The canal mirrored the changing light perfectly, like nature’s mood ring. From brooding greys to cinematic sunshine, the transformation made both walks feel like two different chapters of the same book.

And let’s not skip over the photos, soft golden hour, crisp reflections, and the kind of vibrant greens that Photoshop dreams of. Nature flexed. Hard.

Sometimes, the best walks are the ones that sneak up on your schedule.
