Frozen Steps & Fiery Skies: A Comeback Walk
One week. Seven full days of not walking. I had practically fused with my couch, fully embracing my inner hibernating bear. But today, the streak ended—not with one walk, but two.
And let me tell you, winter was NOT playing around. The “feels-like” temperature was a brutal -8°C, and the wind? Sharp enough to make me reconsider all my life choices. The first few steps felt like betrayal—my fingers went numb, my nose staged a protest, and my legs needed convincing that this was, in fact, a good idea.
But then… the world woke up.
The sky started shifting from deep blue to gold, painting the horizon with soft pastels. The canal reflected every detail perfectly, like nature’s own high-definition mirror. Trees stood tall and bare, their silhouettes stretching in the water below. Birds flocked overhead, probably wondering why on earth I was out in this cold. And then, the sunrise—that made it all worth it.
9km later, 12k+ steps stronger, I was no longer frozen—I was alive.
Moral of the story? The hardest part is stepping out the door. But when you do, you might just find yourself in the middle of something breathtaking.
