Early 50th birthday present from my wife! It came a bit early, but that is great, because obviously this sauna kit takes a bit of time to build.
This is a six person sauna kit from Costco. It features Canadian Red Cedar wood and a 240 volt six kilowatt heater from Finland. Even the rocks for the heater come from Finland.

I had to move the kit into garage, because this sauna is intended for the Whidbey Island and unfortunately Costco doesn't deliver this particular kit to the island.
So I would have to rent a van and load up this 1000+ pound kit into it and deliver it myself. I am also going to build it myself and install the dual pole thirty amp 240 volt breaker into the panel and run a 10/2 Gage wire from the panel to the power box on the sauna.

I like how the rocks came in four boxes of fifteen kilograms each. Costco had a sale for this sauna, but even before the sale they are selling this sauna for less than half the price of an identical sauna from the same manufacturer.
Though the sauna is the same the heater is six kilowatt instead of the eight kilowatt that the manufacturer sells for more than double the cost. I had a six person sauna from this manufacturer in the past and six kilowatt was plenty to run the sauna to over two hundred twenty degrees Fahrenheit in about an hour.

Above is the image of how this sauna is supposed to look like when assembled. There is more glass than on my previous sauna so it is going to loose more heat, but the heater is supposed to be more efficient with more rocks and this fancy new configuration so I think it is going to work just fine.
I am really looking forward to the sauna building project and to using it after my fifties birthday. I love sauna and it has been a few years since I last used it regularly. And it is supposed to be really good for the health reasons.

I was also able to drive after work to my mother in law and install a portable air conditioner for her. It has gotten hot a few days ago in her condominium with temperature inside exceeding eighty degrees as her roof really heats up.
And mid this week they are forecasting the same weather even though right now it is raining and cold.

Tomorrow is back to the office and while I am not looked forward to the commute to Seattle, but it is going to provide an opportunity to get more steps and use our gym in the building and do some real workouts the next two days.
On the way to work I will be dropping off our daughter at her school and picking her up as my wife has a long event in Seattle and is not going to be able to help with driving tomorrow. Luckily her school is in the same town as my light rail station.
