The Last Day of Vacation is Always Sad

We had a wonderful vacation as a family this past week. We had a change of scenery, change in weather and spent our time on the ocean swimming and snorkeling.

We ate wonderful food and hung out with friends. Weather was perfect between seventy five and eighty degrees most of the time. I had eaten so much seafood and fish including wonderful Poke that today at another ocean side restaurant I opted out for a cheeseburger.

While on vacation I was almost completely away from the computer and just checked on Hive from my phone. I still tracked and posted my steps from my phone via the Actifit application.

I also checked on the news and while there seemed to be a lot of news every day, nothing really changing as far as Iran situation. There were more threats and deadlines for Iran, but it does not feel like it will change anything.

The images in this post were taken from our condo balcony in Kahana, Maui. Every time we come to Hawaii it feels so wonderful and relaxing.

The locals are not very welcoming though, today while walking on the trail next to Whaler Village shopping center we overheard two local young men say: "There are so many f*cking people, we need a monster truck to run over them!"

Not exactly a friendly attitude. The island has changed quite a bit as well. Pretty much all the free beach parking is gone and replaced with $30+tax...

The whole attitude is to tax the visitors as much as possible. Still, the island is a magical paradise and is totally worth it.

This time around we definitely noticed less people everywhere and particularly less cars parked in the resort parking lots in Kahana.

Overall it seems that there are less tourists, but restaurant reservations are still really hard to come by.

Today I read an interesting post by one of the Hive whales who is powering down to invest in something else outside Hive.

What I found fascinating is that this whale had slightly more than eight hundred thousand Hive powered up and talked how he didn't want to have so much power on Hive because it was stressing him out.

Eight hundred thousand Hive is around forty four thousand dollars. That's way less than one bitcoin even at these fire sale prices. Where else are you considered a whale with such a modest investment?

Hive is a really small blockchain these days... it is concerning that the price fell under six cents, but it is also an opportunity to accumulate Hive while there is so little competition.

Same situation as we see with Splinterlands, the price of SPS token has fallen significantly under half a cent and the game is further along than it has ever been.

Yes, the crypto market is really struggling and stock market is flirting with a correction and things may get even worse as there is no end in sight with Iran situation and elevated oil prices. But all of this signals to me that 2026 could the year to accumulate all kinds of assets: crypto such as top altcoins and bitcoin, stocks and other investments, too bad that I don't have any funds to do it outside of my retirement account.
