First intermediate goal reached... my training diary entry from November 6 2026

(edited)

(Here is another shot from a vacation in Greece. The photo was taken along the beach promenade in Finikounda, a small village a few kilometers from Pylos.)

Hi Actifitters,

yesterday, alongside a few dumbbell exercises, I completed my second push-up session and managed to reach my first small interim goal right away. It was a motivating first step toward getting back to the level of fitness I had before my vacation.

Here are a few figures regarding my current training level when it comes to close-grip push-ups:

The previous goal according to the training plan (39+):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
8977max (min. 8)60 seconds

My previous attempt (57 - before my vacation):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
1217138760 seconds

Yesterdays attempt (39):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
8977860 seconds

The next goal according to the training plan (45+):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
91088max (min. 10)90 seconds

As the tables show, I am currently 18 repetitions away from my personal best. It remains to be seen how long it will take to get back to that level. As for my next intermediate goal, I am only 6 repetitions short. Since the rest periods between sets are now 90 seconds instead of 60, I am optimistic that I will reach this target quite quickly.

In addition, I spent a good half-hour on the bike yesterday and completed the "Climb of the Week" for the third time. This time, however, I took on the full version—the 100% option. It was significantly more demanding than the previous two attempts at 50% and 75%. I did try to avoid putting too much pressure on the pedals, though I only partially succeeded, as the gradient sometimes simply demanded it.

Here are the figures from the cycling session:

Duration - 0:27:42
Distance - 7.47 km
Elevetaion gain - 314 m
Average speed - 16.2 km/h
Maximum speed - 100.8 km/h
Average power output - 216 watts
Maximum power output - 583 watts
Average heart rate - 142 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 163 bpm
Average cadence - 65
Maximum cadence - 109
Calories - 342

Mission 80 (Day 131 = 88.8 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0 kg / Total loss = 1.2 kg)

I really have no idea what could be causing this renewed, significant weight gain. I definitely had a calorie deficit yesterday. It’s possible that my body is currently retaining water, given that I’ve started training more intensely again. Oh well—I won’t let it discourage me; I’ll just keep going.

Although I’m feeling a bit of muscle soreness all over my body since I started ramping up the intensity of my training again, I plan to complete my second "reverse pull-up" session today. On top of that, I’ve set my sights on tackling the "Climb of the Week" one last time—this time at 125% intensity. Given how challenging yesterday’s 100% version was, I’m sure this one will really make me break a sweat.

Congratulations on reaching your first interim goal! Your effort to get back into shape after the holidays is truly inspiring. Don’t worry too much about the temporary weight gain.
