Weak start on close-grip push-ups & HPUD... my training diary entry from August 31 2026

(edited)

(Here is the next photo from our Sunday hike. On our way up to the August Schuster Haus, we passed countless waterfalls. Here is one of them.)

Hi Actifitters,

yesterday was the first push-up session based on the new training plan target. Unfortunately, I performed significantly worse than I had hoped. The main issue is likely the rest intervals between sets, which were reduced from 120 seconds to 60 seconds. This leaves only half the time to prepare the muscles for the next set.

The next goal according to the training plan (72+):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
12171313max (min. 17)60 seconds

My previous attempt (61):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
121310101660 seconds

Yesterdays attempt (50):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
121787660 seconds

As you can see, I managed 11 fewer repetitions than in the last session with the old goal. It’s sure to be a tough battle until I reach the current goal, too. Challenge accepted!

AnschlieĂźend widmete ich mich dem Schwellentraining auf dem Rad. Garmin schlug mir folgende Einheit vor:

15 minutes warm-up at 180 watts
16 minutes at 270 watts
15 minutes cool-down at 150 watts

The second half of the main set was a real grind, and I really had to dig deep towards the end to avoid quitting. Here are a few more figures regarding the training:

Duration - 0:46:07
Distance - 24.11 km
Elevetaion gain - 230 m
Average speed - 31.4 km/h
Maximum speed - 54.1 km/h
Average power output - 200 watts
Maximum power output - 273 watts
Average heart rate - 141 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 170 bpm
Average cadence - 88
Maximum cadence - 106
Calories - 530

Mission 80 (Day 64 = 85.3 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0 / Total loss = 4.7 kg)

After weighing 85.1 kg yesterday—meaning I was just 100 grams away from the 85-kilo mark—I was full of hope. Unfortunately, however, the scale wants me to be patient a little longer. Today I weighed 85.3 kg what means 200 grams more than yesterday.

I also took part in the Hivepowerupday and powered up 5190 HIVE. Here is the screenshot:

Core stability training is on the agenda again today. Since I skipped it last time—because I simply couldn't bring myself to do it on Saturday after my three-hour cycling session—it’s a must today.

On top of that, Garmin wants me to pedal at 155 watts for a good hour and a half. I’ll have to decide on the fly whether to follow that plan, as I have to go into the office today unexpectedly. We’ll see what’s possible.
