Excessive training and loss of control... my training diary entry from August 22 2026

(edited)

(I took this picture in May while walking along the Isar. It’s a shame that the green floodplain forests will soon be gone and autumn will set in—though the colorful hues of autumn are very beautiful, too.)

Hi Actifitters,

yesterday, I exercised for a total of three hours and 30 minutes. I started with close-grip push-ups. I managed to improve by two repetitions in the final set, and I am now just one repetition away from reaching my current interim goal.

The next goal according to the training plan (60+):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
12131010max (min. 15)120 seconds

My previous attempt (57):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
1213101012120 seconds

Yesterdays attempt (59):

set 1set 2set 3set 4set 5break between sets
1213101014120 seconds

Afterwards, I pedaled for two hours at an average of 147 watts.

Duration - 2:00:08
Distance - 62.54 km
Elevetaion gain - 95 m
Average speed - 31.2 km/h
Maximum speed - 40.0 km/h
Average power output - 147 watts
Maximum power output - 165 watts
Average heart rate - 119 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 136 bpm
Average cadence - 84
Maximum cadence - 112
Calories - 1016

To finish up, I did a few dumbbell exercises, some stretching, and aerobics.

Mission 80 (Day 55 = 87.2 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0 / Total loss = 2.8 kg)

Even though I burned quite a few calories exercising, I unfortunately have to report a weight gain of 800 grams. However, nothing surprises me this time, as I simply lacked willpower yesterday. It started when I went to a beer garden with an acquaintance and had a few beers. That triggered an uncontrollable appetite later in the evening, leading me to systematically raid my food supplies. I polished off a frozen pizza, some cookies, and a whole lot of chocolate in the process. It will probably take me the entire coming week to make up for this loss of control.

Even though I slept quite poorly due to overindulging in food—and my Garmin stats reflect that—I’m going to hop in the saddle for 90 minutes today and start fighting back against yesterday’s loss of control. I’m also going to work on my core stability again.
