One Walk, Two Moves, and the Meaning of Life
This weekend only left time for a single walk, but it was the kind of walk that fills your cup.
After last weekend’s marathon of boxes, furniture Tetris, and trying not to lose screws during my younger son’s move, the eldest decided it was his turn to drop by. His news? Plans to move into an apartment after summer. My first reaction was equal parts excitement and “how many moving trucks can one family rent in a year?”
So, we walked. Not a fast-paced, calorie-burning power walk—more the reflective, slow-motion kind where you feel the sun on your face and let the conversation meander like the path by the canal. We talked about apartments, independence, how rent prices are somehow a cosmic joke, and—inevitably—“life, the universe, and everything.” Because some conversations with your kids end up there.
