Caught on the Way Home: A Sky Full of Balloons
Some people run marathons. Some hike the Alps. Me? I run a gauntlet called Saturday errands.
Today’s mission involved the classic route: supermarket → dry cleaner → pharmacy → mild existential crisis at the hardware store. Somehow, we still clocked in over 5,000 steps. All in the name of productivity and pantry replenishment.
But just as we were riding the high of finishing early (a true Saturday miracle), we looked up and BAM — hot air balloons, dotting the sky like emojis in real life. One even had a giant smiley face. Could’ve sworn it winked at me.
It was the kind of view that makes you pause mid-sidewalk and forget you’re carrying a sack of potatoes in one hand and laundry detergent in the other.
Lesson of the day: even errand days can hand you a sky full of wonder. You just have to look up. 📷🎈

Indeedy, it sure is, and I always loved seeing them. They'd get really close sometimes! Yep, it certainly was, and I never got tired of it. Good question. I've never seen them anywhere on the Big Island, likely because there are not many large open fields to land and take off, as well as lots of areas where they definitely would not want to land...lol! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
