Hello everyone! This is my first time here.

Hmmmm on a YES OR NO context this will be very controversial or it is but im glad there’s the urgency to explain whatever stance which brings us to the middle ground which is analysis but not just a one faceted or one phased approach to an answer.

In our today world this issue has prominently risen to à point that it’s becoming more normal and acceptable for children to be used as content rather than deliberating the consequences. The domination or success of the internet and modern era has made any civilization looking act or trend as normal and regarded as development. Dont you think it can be controlled? I mean just accepting whatever comes into the society as a trend via the social media. Sometimes I even wish we just have the basic internet and www space without the entertainment part of it, like the instagram tiktoks and all… it’s nice but using children for contents actually has risks that outweigh the protections. We will find out..

Advantages of child content creation

Actually I won’t despise the positivity in it or the real benefits that are attached to it asides MONEY! because In our world today Thats the bone of contention for every act or thought which is wrong as it tends to take out humanity for profitability.

When kids get early access to creativity on such scale it helps a lot to build their skills and reception capabilities in the sense that they tend to start understanding metrics and know what’s more acceptable rp their audience which means they can already do a target creation for a certain aim, Thats à skill that helps them all through their life in so many real ramifications. Some kids naturally enjoy storytelling performances, teaching , music or gaming so they can always enjoy building contents around that which nin the long term they develop lotta confidence , communication skills and very strong digital literacy. Somehow it prepares them for the fast approaching digital future ahead of them.

It also helps them and the family in terms of financial opportunities if channeled properly. Momey generated could be used for education or healthcare or better still be used to secure a long term savings for the child.

One more benefit is relatability with the other kids and the sense that other children feel represented and not ignored on the internet space, in their own digital age now other kids that are maybe introverts will feel less alone, learn more and live happier so we can agree that it’s not harmful, now we should look at the negative side

What are the negative impacts?

Now this is the section that the world will keep ignoring because humanity is dead! I
Hope we do better

We all know that most children of such ages cannot really give informed consent because a child cannot understand the permanence of the internet yet and most likely they will tend to upload more number of contents that may not even be permissible to the general public or discretion just for the innocence of being a child, they also cannot predict the future consequences or even opt out safely when they finally wanna live à different life or the life they really wanted or would have loved for themselves. It would be very hard when there is already a brand built around them, oh imagine lol they won’t be able to stop because so many businesses promotions, deals and all are already tied to the content they make and the particular audience the kid was reaching need to be held at this point their image becomes public property or business property before they can decide.

Thats why most times child content creators often experience anxiety from things like performance expectations , staying relevant, getting likes and views, becoming tored before they’re even adults…

In this era misuse of contents is very rampant of which kids are not left out. I can imagine the innocent boy on the diapers pack at 15 angry seeing his naked picture smiling on a commercial level 😂😂

Now you see this is tough as the merits and demerits are crazy to balance, you can’t forfeit one for one…. But I think that children should never be the primary focus as PRODUCTS.

I have been a content creator since childhood under the supervision of my parents, and I learned a lot and was well guided and supervised.

Hello my people. I promised last week not to miss this week's topic. So let's dive into it.

"Is the rise of child content creators having a positive or negative impact on the social media space? Explain the reason behind your stance."

Stance: child content creation should be limited because it impacts negatively on the child in a larger way.
firstly childhood is suppose to be all about learning, growth, playing and other children stuff. Not involving them in public exposure or performance.

Even as an adult your mental health will be at risk because of content creating not to talk of a child who might not have a say to any of it because after all the parent imposed it on them.

The pressure of entertaining your audience is overwhelming on some adults who are into content creating. So how will a child focus on social development and lifestyle.

I think it should be limited for real.

‎Well since content monetization started, we have been seeing a lot of things online, especially on Facebook where parents now use their kids to create contents , to some people this is okay. But if we look at it from the other angle, I feel these kids are being exposed to some future dangers and maybe cyber bullying.

‎So I feel this should be minimize.

I take a stand that child content should be regulated because parents can be selfish sometimes when chasing the bag, forgetting that their child is more 💯 than money 💰

Most times, these young ones are deprived of their childhood, which is meant for exploring, learning, and having lots of fun. They begin to work for their parents and take responsibilities meant for adults.

This shouldn't be the case!

Now, what do I have to say? 🤔

I believe this is something a lot of content creators do now, and it's obvious all in the name of engagements and the likes, people will always react to thing's involving children, either to talk to their parents or whatever.

Let's take the case of, erm this guy for instance, m sorry I don't remember his name, he's a dwarf though(I mean no insult) he and his wife at a time were using their kid for content's and all, and people won't stop talking, even though most of it were insults, at least their aim was achieved—engagements.

Personally, I'm grateful for the childhood I had, not the camera and ring light type, I was able to do my childhood and peace. And that allows me to make my mistake and all privately without any of it getting on the camera. A lot of kids today don't have that privilege, they are at a time when they dont know right from left, still their parents keeps on setting camera for them, recording their childhood, first word, and a whole lot more, leaving them to be judged by hose who do not know them. And these people won't stop voicing out their own opinion, either judgemental, abusive and all.

These kids do not know anything, all these criticisms, insults and all, they are not old enough to understand it. Stuffs like this should be done with consent, but then who are they to even know what consent is, a lotnof parents today are guilty of these, using their child to do content, and when they see that such gains good engagement, they repeat it again.

I believe anything of that sort is not done with the good of that chil in mind, reason is cos it is all for the money, they never thought about protecting their child interests and all. All these things are temporary, and one thing the Internet never does is that, it never forgets, so when such a child who has been insulted snd used to gather engagement later grow up in future and see all of this, what effects will it have on them....

We should allow them to really enjoy childhood without much of the spotlight, and even if they will be used for content, it should be responsible ones and also be limited.

I just saw this same question while scrolling online.

My take on this; I don't think it's totally wrong using your kids for content, it all depends on why and how they do it.
I know a number of content creators that basically post about moments with their family (kids), this things they post most times can be meaningful.

But I think where I have a problem with this is when parents post those embarrassing and vulnerable moments of these kids, some go as far as putting there weaknesses out there, knowing fully well that the kids have no say, I see the ones that do this like they're just using them as a source of income, and you know there's a thing about social media it "doesn't forget" the child will definitely grow up to see this and this can cause "dwindling mental health".

For me using kids for content isn't bad at all, in as much as parents protect this kids from embarrassment, doing it responsibly by not sharing vital information that has to do with privacy and safety, like school, route to school, home address and others. Yess...

All they should do is to prioritize the safety and comfort of these kids over the engagement and money involved.

This topic is actually topicking but I guess I'm in between.
Sincerely speaking I post my twin sis babies videos but we all know there are limits and moderation to things.
Even if most of these videos are not on other platforms but Whatsapp been my private space, I upload any funny activities from them so I'm not in a position to judge anyone on that. But from my end and I think from most people's end too, you feel too proud of what your baby just did and you wouldn't want that moment to go away and since we're in the era of having memories recorded, the use of camera comes in (That's my own intention)

I don't know if it can be possible sha restricting parents to stop posting contents about their children since it's an adult account and they can always upload anything as long as it is not against the platform's rule but MAYBE if the council or body or how do they call themselves, double down on their effectiveness and say ohh children contents are no longer allowed, then maybe it can have a stand

The use of kids to create content is fast rising in our society and I don't find most of this content good, especially when the kids are being insulted or harassed in the media daily.

The kind of content parents use their children to create is what matters the most. If you must use your child to create content it should be educational and impactful.
In our current society, I have seen the bad and the good and I really hope these parents are restricted or stopped from using their children to create less educative and impactful content , especially kids with special needs or physical deformity.
They will grow to see this insult and it's going to affect them badly.

There's no different between most of these parents and those who send their kids to hawk on the streets, same child labour, but different spaces .
