Personally, i value my peace of mind. I can endure physical stress but not mental stress.

I remember working in a place were my boss was sp toxic. Leaving for work in the morning, i will be thinking of how the day will go. At a point i couldn't take it any longer, i had to resign for the sake of my sanity.

So if it doesn't work for you and if it affect your sanity then quit.

If you had to choose between staying in a toxic workplace that pays your bills and being unemployed with no immediate source of income, which would you choose and why? At what point do you think protecting your mental and emotional wellbeing becomes more important than job security?

personally, I would just stay for a while in such job , especially if I have pressing bills to pay rather than begging people for money. However, the smart move I will take is to to start looking for another job immediately i start the toxic job because my mental health needs to be guided jealousy no matter how much I need the money
Money is important, no , it can never make me overlook my mental and emotional wellbeing.

if a workplace starts affecting my health, peace, self-worth, or even my relationships, then,it's time to prioritize my health and find a an alternative .

Well, since I'm here, it's just best to do justice to the topic ASAP.

I.

If I'm to choose, well I would definitely chose to stay for a while. And I have my reasons, the reason is not because I feel the job is worth losing myself or my peace over, the reason is because life will always come beckoning and reality won't stop hitting you. I've got rent to pay, I've got to feed, there are family responsibilities, there are personal problems to sort too. And none of this will disappear all because you stopped working or working becomes unbearable.

And like I said earlier, I would only stay for a while, while I use that period to plan, save and quietly look for another job.

The only thing that could possibly make me quit immediately is if it began to affect my health. I don't joke with it,when it starts coming at the expense of my health or I get abused... Then it's a go for me.

II.

I feel that is true. You never know what a person is carrying, what they are battling with and how heavy the weight on them is. I mean, there's more to everyone, you only see/know what they want you to see/know. You won't always know about the responsibility they are carrying, so talking them out of a toxic job may sound easy to you. And finding another job is not always easy, it is not even easy.

So, before leaving or quitting such a job, the individual should do well to consider their financial situation, how toxic the situation around the job is, how it is affecting their mental and physical health and how realistic another job opportunity is

If it is still manageable, then continue for a while as you plan yourself. But if it is affecting and destroying you already, then back out to protect you.

Honestly, it's crucial to dissect both ends of this conversation. In reality, many people are unable to afford their basic needs, so quitting a toxic job might be the worst decision to make, especially when they have no one assisting them. To others, it may sound ridiculous, but to them, continuity in that job is valid as they've got no other choice.

It's also a tricky situation for me because I've got bills to pay, and need some extra to assist my friends and loved ones with. But I won't lie, I value my mental health more than anything. As someone who understands how deep workplace toxicity runs, I won't remain in any job that forces me to act out of character every single day.

I know it will be tough without a job but I have the mindset that things will always work out, and I'll get another opportunity, even though it might be less rewarding.

Hopefully, many others will become privileged enough to leave toxic jobs in the future because it's the absolute ghetto and I wish it on no one!
