Hello, my lovely Hive Naija people. It’s another beautiful weekend, and we’re excited to have you here once again. A new weekend simply means another chance to buzz the Hive blockchain, connect with one another, and simply have fun. You'll also agree with me that there’s something special about bringing everyone together to gist, share opinions, and enjoy good vibes. That is exactly the reason we will continue to meet every weekend.

Sam's Hangout is focused on promoting the togetherness of the Nigerian brethren through active engagement on the blockchain. Beyond that, it is also centered towards the wellbeing of everyone who takes part in our weekend discussions and helps keep our discord running with their presence.
Note that this account was created to make the engagement more personal and official. You can check out the INTRODUCTION POST to learn more about our purpose and vision.
Please, do not forget to follow this account so you don’t miss out on future hangout posts and updates.
Our previous topic was ”GOOD FRIDAY THOUGHTS"

The responses were super amazing and we had over 180+ comments filled with honest opinions, jokes, harmless banter, and fresh perspectives to learn from. The energy was truly contagious. Now, let’s see if we can beat our all-time high again this weekend, shall we? Please try to encourage responses by replying to one another. Remember, engagement is what makes this hangout special.

A topic will be dropped every Friday on this account. Do well to share your thoughts, respond to someone else’s opinion, and feel free to interrogate or add more context on it respectfully. If you don’t have anything new to add, simply reply to another comment in agreement. We encourage you to tag your friends to join the discussion so we can have a fuller house.
All interactions should happen in the comment section, because that’s where the real gist goes down.

This week's hangout starts immediately this post goes live and ends on Sunday by 11:59 pm.

Now to our discussion for this weekend! We will be discussing "SPACE MISSIONS vs EARTH NEEDS”. It’s been 9 days since NASA’s Artemis II mission began, where four astronauts embarked on a journey around the Moon to test the Orion spacecraft and its systems, verify human capabilities in deep space, and pave the way for future lunar exploration and landings. The mission has dominated social media timelines, with clips, updates, and discussions flooding the internet. While many people have been fascinated by the achievement of these astronauts and the promise of NASA's future space exploration, others have begun questioning the need to return to space again, and whether past lunar missions were true to words.
Here’s the question!
Our physical hangout is still on our minds and big plans are being made behind the scenes. Please check our Last Post for updates, and thank you to everyone contributing towards making it a reality.
If you have a topic you would like us to discuss in our future hangouts, please feel free to suggest it to us in the comment section and tag @sam.hangout to it.
Okay Let's Gist!!!

Don't you think we are forgetting somebody?... Well, I'm sure we are...

To make our hangout more interactive, we have decided to add two events to spice it up.
On Saturdays, we share our owanbe stories, party gists, and even pictures.
On Sundays, we reflect on the weekend and things we learnt so far, as well as share plans for the new week.
Don't forget to join us!!

There are no strict rules as regards this weekend hangout. Feel free to speak any Nigerian language you like, whether Igbo, Yoruba, pidgin, Efik, or others, as long as it can be understood.
With all that said, let the discussion begin...

Okay we're here again. Weekends are just coming as fast as a serial disease hehehe
So I'm not really conversant with all NASA and space travels but I have this basic knowledge about them and I think sometimes early this year, I saw a news about a woman who got stuck in a planet when she traveled in 2024 I guess for like 9 months or so.
I don't really know why they do these travels most especially when lives are at risk so to me, either it's a good time or not a good one, everyone should just stay in the planet God has placed them. Why doing longthroat into moon when you're supposed to be on the soil 😜
I know they're basically doing this for knowledge or research but biko bianu, small small
@van.illa @chefqueen @goldenproject @quduus1 @abdul-qudus @mikechrist come and shook mouth for 🎙️ or have you travel to space before

Long throat bawo, as how naw..
To be honest with you Sha, I feel most of the funds being used in this space missions can be used to sort some problems that are dealing with us, but then we can't also deny that this space missions as yielded certain good results that we are benefiting from today....
Ehn now longthroat 😂
Pls what are the benefits 😜

In my honest opinion. What I believe in is that no matter what we do, no matter how massive the funding might be, if put into the urgent need and problems on earth, there will always be another problem no matter what they do. Problem goes, another problem will come. And as far as NASA program is concerned here, those going to the moon definitely have a purpose of going there and it's not just for play. And don't let us forget, going into space is what brought about some of the technologies we have today like weather forecasting even though it's not always accurate. And some of us who love watching football or hearing news around the world, going into space and putting a satellite thier made it possible and I can also say and a lot of better technologies have been gotten through it. And from what I heard, the budget for NASA is not even up to 1% as people think as some might think it cost. So In the real scene of it, I will say it's like 30/70 because going to space has given scientists a lot of solutions to some problems here on earth.
You nailed it sir...
Talk of the way the weather is being tracked and even some of the medical tools being used today are a result of space exploration.
Oh! Wawww....Medical tool? 🤔 I never knew about that. Just mentioned those I know

The close neighbor to humanity (earth) is the moon and, just like humans, it's very important to know your neighbor.
The lunar mission will make this relationship between the earth and the moon attainable. So, the lunar mission is scientific research that will lead to meaningful technological advancement on earth, create an opportunity for humanity to explore the moon, study the moon, and its connection to the earth, explore and study its environment and surroundings.
It's also going to be great research for our present and future astronauts who want to travel to the moon and that will have a great impact on earth. One of the great impacts this lunar mission will create for humanity is the introduction of new technology and great innovation to the world, and that's really beneficial to the future of humanity. The lunar mission is beneficial to the future in many ways. And if given an opportunity to travel to the moon too, I'm definitely going to grab such an opportunity.

Y'all should come let's travel to the moon together 😁
Definitely...
It does promise to bring more solutions to the problems we are facing, it's impact can be seen and I'm sure more will come..

Hello everyone , happy Friday, I'm coming let me reach house before I calm and answer this question.
Be fast abeg
In-between, bring cheeseball along
Personally, I feel they are necessary, but not as important as human lives. A lot of things are happening around us, from insecurity, to hunger, to unemployment and all of that, and I feel those things needs attention snd solutions first. Such missions are necessary, but not more important than human lives. It's heartbreaking to see huge amounts of money being spent on this missions and we having poor healthcare facilities in our society and some even find it hard to eat 1 square meal. I just feel that's spending too much on trying to solve and find solutions to problems that are far away while ignoring the one's at our doorstep. So, if same energy and fund poured into this missions are used and poured into the security system and improving our living conditions, our lives will be better and safer than this...
Huhm, I don't know the best way to go so as not to contradict myself 🤔🤔🤔..
Well, I also believe these missions to space can bring impressive results. Presently we can see their results, a lot of the tech we make use of today improved as a result of space research...talk of the good communication systems and so on. So, via exploring space a lot has been achieved, and I believe a lot more will/can be achieved that will help life on earth and bring solutions to problems/issues.
I'm the curious type and I love to explore, but I'm not sure I will travel to the moon 🌝. Feels too risky for my curious self 🫣.
Big respect to those going 🫡. And to the likes of @afrikens, @zali.bee, @betheloji12, @mikechrist, @chefqueen,@van.illa..... that will be willing to go 🫡
🏃🏃🏃
Who told you I'm willing to take the risk.
Biko make i explore the earth first.
I'm starting from sambisa forest 😂😂
There's nothing to be scared about though 😁, I will lead the road , 😂
Good girl
I trust you 💯 💞
for me i feel so blessed an opportuned that my eyes have seen the actual wonder of God, for the first time in my life I'm viewing the whole universe from a different perspective, like how is the earth and other planet just floating in space, how are other planet like, how did we come to occupy the earth, why is the earth different how come the earth is the only planet that support life and vegetation , how did God position the earth in such a way that makes it perfectly fit for life, you can do well to check my last post The wonder of God and let me know what you think or better still let's banter under this post....
i am a free thinker and i am a person given to curiosity, i ask questions and do research to know more and better...
for the record, humans are very creative being and we have from day one want to do the extraordinary, the space mission to explore outter space is a product of imagination and this is to let us know that some day we will create life outside earth and humans can start living in other planet under certain conditions....
this is amazing and they're marvelous in our eyes imagine all the breath taking images of the moon and other planets, if i have the opportunity i would gladly journey to the moon....
this exploration will definitely bring about better innovations and inventions in the future all this will make life better and more sophisticated

Hello my lovely people. Wishing you all a happy weekend.
Here is my little scent for today's topic.
I can't relate though because I have not travel to the moon and the sun..... 😂😂
But sincerely i don't think space exploration is a waste of resource o.
Because if it's indeed a waste, i don't think the world will develop or advance.
Technology for example is advancing everyday.
All this satellite communications, medical equipment, forecasting. These are results from space exploration.
If those scientists out there see it as a waste of resource the world will be affected too.
Talking about the expses spent on those missions is it bigger than the country's budget? Let's be realistic o.
The problem is resource management. With this i believe it's still possible to invest in space exploration and also solve the problems on earth.
This is my conclusion. There are problems on earth, serious problems that needs attention.
I believe there should be balance between attending to human needs and technology for future growth.

You talk everything finish come dey pass me mic to say wetin again na?
I don't think we can say it's a total waste of resources. There's mismanagement or misappropriation which should be dealt with rather. There are benefits that we can say have come from such exploration.
With these few points of mine, may you be confused and yet convinced that what I said is what it is.🙂

Excellent.
To me , i feel that lunar mission will not really benefit this Earth by any means, apart from creating more unnecessary theories.
