In search of the fundamental wisdom of our ancestors.
There is perennial debate over the idea that, at some time and place, our ancestors did the very things we do today—only better, with higher quality, and more simply.
Yet, the fundamentals of that wisdom have been lost to time; all people can do is continue the search. Perhaps it is precisely this quest that drives people to embark on daring ventures and defines their life's purpose.
Some seek this wisdom in the pyramids, while others believed it lay hidden beneath the layers of magma in Pompeii; yet, it seems it was never found, given that people today continue to repeat the mistakes of the past without gaining any new wisdom.
Perhaps people have simply forgotten how to live with simplicity—how to appreciate, for instance, the simple paint covering a simple door panel. For some reason, we now feel we need plastic.
Our vision has clearly changed, too; we see the world through different eyes than our ancestors did. Perhaps this is because they perceived the world through their own minds, free from the pressure of advertising and propaganda.
