Just Another Day on the Island

Yesterday we had another fun day on the island, we started out with a quick lunch and headed out to the town to stop at the main grocery store: The Goose.

On our way to the store we drove through downtown Freeland and here at one of the major intersections you can see in the image above a man patiently waiting for the light to cross the street with two goats 🐐 😀

Yep, that is right, not dogs, but goats. I guess those are more fun to walk around downtown than dogs...

So after shopping at The Goose and picking up some Australian goat milk soap, some freshly smoked brisket and ribs we stopped by at the Sweet Sisters organic store to pick up some natural shampoo and a few other things.

Then we headed back to our home to try out the brisket and have another small meal. After that we headed out to the Spyglass beach.

There were a lot of fisherman at the beach, probably more than fifty men and women. We walked there for around two hours looking for the sea glass and sea shells as well as cool stones.

In all the time we were on the beach we have not seen anyone actually catch the fish though one fisherman did hook one small fish but it got away before he could reel it in.

After a nice walk on the Spyglass beach we headed back home. After we got back home I looked up the weather and saw that we are going to have our first rain during our vacation, so I went outside and mowed the lawn before the rain makes it much harder to do.

The new air filters arrived from Amazon, so I have replaced the main filter for the upper floor of the house. The summer in Seattle is definitely coming to the end and the forecast is showing some cooler weather. Looks like there are not going to be eighty plus degree days anymore.

That is alright as our vacation is almost over and we have about a day and a half left on the island. Next week it is back to work and our daughter is starting her school soon as well in September.

All this activity resulted in over twenty two thousand steps yesterday, which is pretty good, though I have not done any weight lifting or calisthenics style workouts while on vacation, so next week I am heading back not just to work, but also to the weight lifting workouts and after over a week of doing nothing in that department I am sure it is going to result in some sore muscles.

I might sneak in a workout on Sunday, but it is more likely that I am going to restart the workouts on Monday. Today my brother in law and his girlfriend might stop by the island and I am looking forward to him trying out the sauna for the first time that he helped putting together. He helped me with the glass door and with some of the wiring.

Today should be another relaxing day on the Whidbey Island, though we might take it easier considering that it has rained all night and we have done a bit of walking these last few days.

We do have a visit to Langley planned for today and for my wife to visit a spa there and my daughter wants to paint some landscapes there. So today should be another fun and relaxing day.
