Back in the office today

Back to the office today after working all day from home yesterday and then additionally working from eight in the evening until almost midnight upgrading our Azure Kubernetes from version 1.30 to 1.35.

We were on LTS version so it is supported until June, but you have to pay double for the LTS. In the current austerity environment that is a luxury we can no longer afford. And the oldest non LTS (Long Term Supported) version of Kubernetes is 1.33.

We could not update straight to 1.35 so we had to do two upgrades yesterday from 1.30 to 1.33 and then to 1.35 each upgrades took about two hours as it had to upgrade ten nodes and move all the pods to the new nodes.

It did go flawless with no issues just like in the non production Kubernetes cluster. And today when I arrived to the office I was able to remove LTS and premium pricing. That should save us around six thousand dollars per month across the two Kubernetes clusters.

If I could convince our stakeholders to downgrade our Azure SQL Server to Standard from Business Critical that would save us another couple thousand dollars per month...

I also met with my boss today, he was pretty happy with the upgrade last night. He was actually on the Teams call yesterday for the first part of the update so he knows what was involved. He told me today that he wants me to prototype a new content management system for our internal client. They don't have much money so I am thinking of going open source system. The next two weeks are going to be busy...

I also managed to get to our gym in the building and after about ten minutes of warm up and stretches I did the new workout that I am doing: one hundred pull ups, two hundred push ups and two hundred squats. It is challenging even when spread across the ten sets.

I also dropped out our car at the dealership for transfer case fluid change and software update. BMW releases over the air upgrades three times per year. Our last update was not installing so we did an update at the dealership and that update was from November 2023. After that we didn't receive any over the air updates and today they installed March 2026 update. So we caught up on seven updates.

Walking to work from the dealership and back to the dealership I got a nice step count of over fourteen thousand steps. And that on top of a good workout makes me satisfied with my fitness progress.

It is interesting that United States is the least healthy developed nation even though we have the highest number of people with gym memberships of any country in the world. I think there are several reasons for it. One is that we have no universal Healthcare access like the European countries do, we also get a lot less vacation and that makes people burn out and increases stress.

We also focus on working out in the gym and European countries have lifestyle that has built in fitness such as walking everywhere, while here we drive everywhere because of distances and the fact that there are many places with no sidewalks...

It is hard to beat daily natural fitness activity with a gym program. Also, I believe that the statistics are based on averages and in America a certain percentage of people are very fit and eat really well, but population overall is not like that and that is why we come last...

Less than two days left in Splinterlands season and it is time to make intelligent choices on when to stop playing modern league versus wild league. In Modern earnings per win for me are about twenty to thirty SPS, but win rate is less than in wild where I get around seven SPS per win.

And then there are considerations of when to stop playing for the season to optimize the leaderbord placement. Also, I have to keep an eye on Survival mode as there are reward points for glint and also leaderboard placement to keep in mind.

Bitcoin is doing amazingly well despite oil at one hundred dollars, the information running at 3.8% and producer price index at six percent. These are some shocking numbers and do not bode well for a rate cut any time soon. I think we are headed into a major recession and this is close to a market top.

It will be interesting to see what happens with BTC with the possible vote on the CLARITY act today. I have a feeling it will be more of a sell the news type event, but you never know. I'd be happy just being able to do one pull up. I've tried, it's not happening. Push ups I can do though. Maybe not 200, but I can do a good twenty or thirty.

Well, the dude I fist saw doing this workout is 60 and is doing 200 pull ups and not 100 like me... So it's all relative and if you can't do one, then try one with assistance of bands. If you can do those then you still get the full benefit and eventually can move up to regular pull ups.
