My mum's hysterectomy is just a few days away, and I'm on edge. Just yesterday, we went to book the operating theatre for Friday and do the pre-op tests. We thought we'd be done with everything yesterday, but that wasn't the case. The anaesthesiologist requested hormone tests and an endocrine evaluation, so an additional thyroid profile was done, and today I got the results, which showed that her TSH was elevated, meaning she is hypothyroid and therefore cannot have the surgery, even though the value is minimal. The endocrinologist informed us of this this afternoon after the consultation.
The solution is to repeat the test tomorrow at another laboratory and pray to God that it comes back normal, since the value that is abnormal is minimal anyway. If the results are good on Thursday, she will give us the report and my mother will have the surgery on Friday. Otherwise, her treatment will be increased for three weeks and the tests will be repeated, but this would mean changing the date of the surgery, which would cause more expense, since the clinic would surely increase its cost, and in Venezuela every day counts, because the currency is devalued every day. I am under a lot of pressure, but I always say that my mum's life comes first and whatever happens is for the best.
My brother borrowed the money for the operation from the company where he works, and they will deduct it from his salary over three years, 🥹😪😭. My mum's health issue could not be resolved in a public hospital, and she also needed a gynaecologist and a urologist because of her condition.

Faltan pocos días para la operación de histerectomía de mi mamá y tengo los nervios de punta, justamente ayer fuimos apartar el quirófano para el día viernes y hacer los exámenes preoperatorios, pensamos que saldríamos de todo ayer, pero no fue así, la anestesióloga solicitó los exámenes de hormonas y la valoración de la endocrina, por lo que se le hizo adicional un perfil tiroideo y hoy me dieron los resultados saliendo alterado el TSH lo que significa que está hipotiroidea y así no le hacen la cirugía, aunque el valor es mínimo, eso nos informó la endocrina esta tarde después de salir de consulta.
La solución es repetir el examen mañana en otro laboratorio y rogar a Dios que salga bien, ya que de todas formas es mínimo el valor que está alterado. De salir bien el jueves nos da el informe y mi mamá se operaría el viernes, de lo contrario le aumentaría tratamiento por tres semanas y se repetirían los exámenes, pero esto significaría cambiar la fecha de la operación lo que ocasionaría más gasto, ya que la clínica seguramente aumentaría su costo y en Venezuela cada día cuenta, porque todos los días se devalúa la moneda, tengo mucha presión encima, pero siempre digo que lo primero es la vida de mi mama y lo mejor es lo que pasa.
El dinero de la operación lo consiguió mi hermano prestado en la empresa donde trabaja, que se lo irán descontando por tres años, 🥹😪😭, el caso de salud de mi mamá no podía ser solucionado en un hospital público además necesitara de un ginecólogo y un urólogo y por su condición.
Although my day was very stressful, with medical appointments and worries, I started it in the best way possible because I knew it would be challenging, so I went to the gym early, since I missed yesterday to take my mum for her pre-op tests. Today's class is my favourite, the Tuesday one, and after a good aerobics session and a good sweat, we ended up taking some funny photos where we had fun. By the way, there were only a few of us there today.
The photos have the following titles: the first one is "Hold me, I'm tired," ha ha ha, I'm lying on the girls' legs. The second one is "We're all gymnasts," and the third one I decided to title "Fe_ _ l." 🤣😁 You can fill in the word in Spanish and you'll understand.
As I write this post, it's raining heavily, the electricity is out, and I have a lot of things to do. See you tomorrow, and pray for my mum. Her name is Doris, and she is a person with a noble soul. Thank you for your prayers, support, and time.
Aunque mi día fue de mucho estrés, diligencia médicas y preocupaciones, lo empecé de la mejor forma porque sabía que sería retador así que temprano fui al gimnasio, ya que ayer falté por llevar a mi mamá hacerse el preoperatorio. La clase de hoy es mi favorita, la de día martes y después de un buen aeróbics y de sudar terminamos sacando algunas fotos cómicas donde nos divertimos, por cierto hoy asistimos pocas.
Las fotos llevan el siguiente título, la primera es agárrenme que estoy cansada, jajajá salgo acostada sobre las piernas de las muchachas. La segunda es somos todas unas gimnastas, la tercera se me ocurrió titular en posición Fe_ _ l. 🤣😁 usted completa la palabra en español y entenderá.
En el instante que escribo este post, está lloviendo fuerte, se fue la electricidad y me faltan muchas cosas por hacer, nos vemos mañana y oren por mi mamá su nombre es Doris y es una persona de alma noble. Gracias por su oración, apoyo y tiempo.
