Hey Actifitters,
Yesterday was the end of my journey to my hometown. For once, I slept through most of the first flight (that's what happens I guess when you skip sleeping for days before your trip). So after a fairly short layover in Paris, the short second flight wasn't bad. We could see the bright sun was already battling thick clouds for dominance of the sky. That battle was far from over and lasted pretty much the whole day.

It's always impressive to me how little time is needed to get very rural scenery. We were still in the initial altitude rise and already Paris skyline and streets seemed so far away, with only vast crop fields and tiny villages everywhere.

Of course, the view is so much better when you get closer to Lyon. Yes I may be a bit biased but look at this beauty from above.

One of my favorites photos ever from behind a plane window, with whatever river that is. Google AI confirmed it was the Rhone, one of the biggest rivers in France, and Europe even. And also that this particular view was near the Golf Club de Lyon, also one of the biggest in France. I'll believe them as I don't know anything about golf! You can also see a power plant in the distance, most likely the Bugey nuclear plant. And of course, in the background, a bit faint in the golden sunrise sky, my beloved Alps mountain range!
I almost could have used this photo for #AroundTheWorld contest this week, but I'm hoping to get even better. Actually, let me add the tag anyways and I will change my photo if I get anything better before Friday...)

Flight and following drive went with no issue and after lunch and a few drinks with relatives, we were finally back home! The battle I mentioned before, had resumed, with a strong push by the clouds.

For some reasons, this one made me think of a dragon, I guess representing the upcoming storm.

And indeed, we had a short thunder storm with heavy rain for a bit. Our first walk with Sam will have to wait till later. By the way, in case anybody wondered if Sam recognized me, of course he did. I'm the guy who makes him walk miles after miles every time I visit, he can't forget me even when it's been more than a year (and this time, it was barely 7 months since my last visit). Look at this clown!

The sun got the final victory in the weather battle and it cleared up very nicely after the mentioned storms. We quickly took advantage of the slight drop in temperature to go for a walk with Sam of course.

Bonus, the sunset was almost there.

Even better when it's just above my favorite hills!

We didn't walk super long but enough to follow most of the sun descent until it fully disappeared behind the hills.

Leaving us with what I would call cloud shadows in the sky...

So beautiful!

And that was it for the day, quite a long one actually considering that over the last three days, I only slept a few hours in the plane. At least I didn't have trouble falling asleep, before Midnight for the first time, possibly in years! The trip isn't fully vacations, I will have to work, but let's see how it goes, I'm sure we'll find plenty of activities to do.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.
