(This photo was taken towards the end of my 54-kilometer walk on January 31st of this year. I can still remember the moment exactly. I was on the phone with my cousin, complaining about my aching, stiff legs. At that moment, I was just a few meters away from the 50-kilometer mark.)
Hi Actifitters,
yesterday, I focused on my core and did a few stability exercises. I think it’s really important to regularly work on areas like the lower back to distribute the strain on the body during those long miles on the bike.
After the core stability workout, I headed straight into the saddle for an hour of Zone 2 riding. It feels like my heart rate still climbs too high during longer Zone 2 sessions, but that’s exactly what training is for—to optimize that.
Duration - 1:01:08
Distance - 30.81 km
Elevetaion gain - 221 m
Average speed - 30.2 km/h
Maximum speed - 61.1 km/h
Average power output - 184 watts
Maximum power output - 392 watts
Average heart rate - 141 bpm
Maximum heart rate - 174 bpm
I’m curious to see how my numbers develop over the coming weeks.
A happy moment:
Yesterday, my fitness age dropped to 39.5 years. Since I’m turning 46 soon, I’m really pleased with that.
To mark the occasion, I treated myself to a new saddle yesterday. With the help of AI, I decided on the Selle Italia Model X Comfort Plus. Since my backside was really sore during and after a ride with 1,000 meters of elevation gain a few days ago, I think this is a smart move. Considering I want to tackle a truly massive ride later this year, getting a new saddle was essential anyway.
Mission 80 (Day 38 = 88.6 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0 / Total loss = 1.4 kg)
I’m really at a loss. Once again, I weigh 200 grams more than I did just yesterday. Starting today, I’m going to cut my calorie intake even further. Maybe there’s simply a mistake in my calculations. I can’t explain it any other way.
Pull-ups and a cycling session are on the agenda again today. Unfortunately, the new saddle isn't arriving until quite late, so I’ll have to make do with the old setup for now. But that’s no problem—I’m still going to tackle the "Climb of the Week" today.
