
(That bleak "moonscape" above the tree line made the hike up the Zugspitze a truly special experience. Hopefully, I’ll have the chance to do this hike again this year. Otherwise, I’ll give it another go by next year at the latest.)

yesterday, I got on my smart trainer for the second time since my injury break. Curious to see how my body would handle resuming cycling training, I decided to ride the same route I had ridden the day before yesterday.
Here are the key figures from the training session. The values in parentheses are from the session the day before yesterday.
Duration - 0:37:28 (0:37:49)
Distance - 20.85 km (20.77 km)
Elevetaion gain - 33 m (33 m)
Average speed - 33.4 km/h (33.0 km/h)
Maximum speed - 41.4 km/h (41.6 km/h)
Average power output - 185 watts (167 watts)
Maximum power output - 402 watts (269 watts)
Average heart rate - 152 bpm (148 bpm)
Maximum heart rate - 185 bpm (178 bpm)
As the numbers show, I was slightly faster than last time. That was partly because I let myself get carried away and tried to beat an old personal best. Zwift offers frequent opportunities to challenge yourself—and others—in sprints. That also explains the higher power and heart rate readings. All in all, I felt that yesterday’s workout was a bit easier for me than the previous one.
Oh, and I should probably also mention that I had already completed a 1.5-hour training session just a few hours earlier. So, my body was likely already slightly fatigued. The session consisted of aerobics, pull-up training, dumbbell rows, and bicep curls.
Mission 80 (Day 12 = 88.5 kg / Goal = 80.0 kg / Initial weight = 90.0 / Total loss = 1.5 kg)
Since I spontaneously agreed to a dinner date again yesterday—which once more involved a few beers and a delicious pizza—my weight could certainly look better today. Nevertheless, I’m happy to have lost 300 grams, given the "lot" of exercise I got yesterday.
I don't know yet if I'll manage to fit in a workout today. I might hop on my bike for a quick ride in a bit, though, since I'm heading over soon to visit an acquaintance who needs my help.
