Sunshine at last! : My Actifit Report Card: January 24 2026

The sun was out! My opportunity for a cycle ride with my sunglasses on! 😎.

It has been a nice day, all day for a change. With mild temperatures and a slight breeze, I set off to the Ifield Mill Pond first. Straying off any tarmac was very muddy but I kept to the harder stony tracks where possible. Inevitably, I got plastered with mud but I was prepared for it.

The birds were enjoying the sunshine too, including the seagulls. We seem to have the sea birds a lot these days, as we are only 20 miles from the coast here.

Moving onto Tilgate Park next . I passed through Buchan Park on my way there, and found it very busy so I didn't stop today.

Reaching Tilgate, I noticed a familiar sight. A Camelia bush in full bloom! A lovely sight to see amonst the other bare trees and shrubs.

Petals were already dropping off this bush so it must have been in bloom a while already. Camelias always bloom very early indeed!

It was good to get out again on the bike after the long period of wet conditions.
The ground is saturated, and will need a few weeks to really settle and drain a bit, but I think the jet stream may have other ideas before the winter is out!
