Winter Sunshine & 8km: Walking Through the Chill

Let’s talk about the magic of a cold, sunny day. The kind that makes you forget the layers of thermals and gloves you needed to step outside. Today, I tackled an 8km walk under a bright blue sky that almost tricked me into thinking it was spring, until the icy breeze reminded me otherwise.

The canal-side path had its charm: shimmering water reflecting the sun, towering industrial silhouettes, and a quiet solitude that feels rare these days. I felt good, step after step, breathing in that crisp air. But somewhere around kilometer six, my shin decided to crash the party. A dull ache that had me wondering if tomorrow’s walk might need a rain check.

Still, this walk was worth it. Movement clears the head, and even in the cold, it reminds me that progress isn’t just measured in distance, it’s more about showing up. Hopefully, with some rest and stretching, my shin agrees with that philosophy tomorrow. For now, I’ll enjoy the glow of a walk well done.
