I'm very grateful!

So it's been a week since I published the second post of the Silver Gold Stackers engagement initiative I started as a newbie stacker.. I loved reading your comments, even from the people who don't own any silver, I appreciate the engagement just as much as from the experienced stackers!

So thank you all!

The chosen winners

I'm not going to put a certain metric to picking the winners, this will be a surprise every time because I want everyone to have a same shot at getting a HSBI share sponsored. This week it was hard picking just 5 people again but I made a choice and they have already received their HSBI share last week, as I sent out the sponsoring on Jan 13th, as you can see in the HSBI screenshot below:

image.png

Thank you @thebighigg, @stekene, @kerrislravenhill, @beststart, @welshstacker for sharing your stories with me, I hope we will have a lot more talks about stacking in the future. It's nice to connect with people I haven't interacted with before as well, even though we've been around for some time.

A new question

As I've got some more questions lined up, curious that I am, here's the next one right away:

Silver gold stackers engagement initiative.png

I definitely read some of your motives in past posts but I'm very curious what the reason was for the first time you bought silver or gold. Maybe your motives changed over time? If you are willing to share this a bit, I'm grateful, but even if not, I still appreciate every person who comes to say hi.

I'm going to invite a few people that I didn't see on last week's question, I hope you don't mind. If so, my apologies and don't worry as I will not make a tag list every week :)

@silversaver888, @bitcoinman, @saffisara, @trumpman, you are all invited as well..

That's all for today, please remember that I will pick five people and sponsor them 1 HSBI each amongst the people who engage with this post.

Have a good evening/day!

HSBI

Curious what HSBI shares are? Check out the documentation on the website. You can also keep track on your votes, your balance as well as if shares are processed. The HSBI shares give you a lifetime vote, the size depends on how many shares you own.

I can definitly do a post about how my stacking started, kind of accidentally 😂 Hahahaha
But I got hooked.
Is there any special rules? Tags you want us to use or is it just to post? Just so I do it right.

Lots of hugs 🤗💕🤗

Thank you very much for the HSBI, stacking those is becoming a hobby of mine as well. But that's not the topic of today ^^

I never really thought about stacking silver / gold or any other precious metals. A couple of years I started wondering that I had to do something to 'protect' my wealth from being eaten away by inflation. My first thing I researched were stocks as these are easily accessible. Some time later, I came across the concept of play2earn, aka splinterlands in my case. A bit later I discovered that Splinterlands part of the Hive ecosystem. Since I discovered Hive I often strawl around in different communities which I didn't know yet. I already had seen the #ssg community a couple of times but didn't had a real connection. It started a couple of weeks ago that I started to check the articles of the community more in-depth. I am still in my infancy in terms of silver stacking but let's say I am learning step by step.

I am already curious to read about the others as well!

You are very welcome, thank you for taking the time to comment :)

That's quite fun to read that you found your way to Hive through Splinterlands and so learned about Hive later..

I agree with you, the inflation is killing and I'm also starting to collect just regular euros in cash to make sure if shit hits the fan, I don't depend on my bank card. I'm still searching for the best approach in terms of silver stacking when it's just about the value and not the pretty looks. It's great to read everyone's stories and motivations as it helps me in my journey..

The #silvergoldstackers community is amazing, they are really helpful and engaging and it's definitely one of the few favourite communities. Looking at pretty silver when browsing sure helps, lol.

Thanks for sharing again and have a good day!

Thanks but I have not shared any of my shiny stuff in this one, It's a canva image (as I mentioned) .. I'm doing this initiative because I want to learn more about why and how to best stack silver.. I too feel some pressure in terms of shit going to hit the fan one day and I feel that I've lost too many years of NOT being able to save.. Other people's motivations and experiences help me decide.. hence this initiative..

Biggest thing is to just go out and start getting some. Even if it is junk silver and circulated coins...

A while back I got an ounce of silver and I paid way too much for it but it was really cool and I think it is absolutely what I wanted...

One day I think start collecting like my grandpa. My grandpa had an entire cigar box full of silver dollars.

Excellent post!

I agree, I've also started paying attention to circulated coins that are not that common and keeping them, even if they are not going to be worth a lot, I will hold on to these as cash reserve at home and who knows, the really oldest ones become more valuable..

That's great of your grandfather! I don't have any examples in my family (as far as I know, maybe it was hidden lol).. my interest was there since the old platform days but the finances didn't allow me to get into it.. I'm happy things are changing :)

New post coming up later.. have a great day!

As a child my grandfather got me into collecting coins. As I grew older I became a high standard collector. I didn’t collect everything just the 4 coins that I loved the most. Which were the Morgan dollar, the Peace dollar, the Walking Liberty half dollar and the Mercury (Winged Liberty) dime. I had the complete run of each coin minus 2 or 3. I constantly flipped coins to obtain nicer higher grades of the coins that I owned. Unfortunately I had to sell my entire collection in my early 20’s because of a bad business venture with a partner. It took me many years to get out of debt from that. Then marriage, child, house put it on hold further. I got back into
Collecting about 15 years ago again. Since the prices of the coins that I had previously owned had appreciated so much, there was no way for me to reacquire them. So I turned to collecting only graded Morgan’s and stacking silver. While my heart is more into collecting beautiful coins, my wallet cannot afford that so I stack when I can.

That's quite interesting that you had such a solid plan to flip them and upgrade the ones you had. Really interesting to read, thanks!

Sorry about the bad business venture, I know how it is to get into debt and even become homeless, then having to built a life again. If it wasn't for that experience, I would have probably had a nice savings amount already. Such is life though, we can only live and learn..

I really appreciate the story, thank you!

Thanks, @thisismylife. Much appreciated.

I started buying silver as a way to diversify my assets.
It wasn't until I started buying coins that I was able to appreciate the detail and history of the coins that made it an interesting hobby as well as a hedge against inflation.

This is a great initiative!

How did you get into silver/gold stacking?

I got into silver stacking after learning more about the metal in my later years. I always knew that silver was somewhat rare and when I learned that old coins were made of silver the idea fascinated me. When I learned that the silver was removed from our money and replaced with mostly copper, I began looking for ways to collect more of this beautiful shiny stuffs.

What was the reason you got interested in the topic?

It began with my early fascination with numismatics, when i was young my mom would bring me to local coin dealers and I thought all the old coins were really neat. I liked the designs and the history that went with them. This transitioned into stacking later, when I realized the value of the metal (silver specifically) was extremely underpriced and under-appreciated, I decided that accumulating the metal would become the new priority.

Hi @ironshield, I'm sorry for replying after the payout window but that's because I had to take care of my health first before catching up on missed engagement. Today I'm writing the winners post and new question so therefore I'm going to read everything :)

Thank you for your answer and I too find it fascinating to learn that back in the days coins were made of silver.. I've seen some pretty ones already.

How cool of your mom! Amazing to share such an experience with her for coins..

Thanks for sharing!

I have started stacking gold for long-term savings cuz it has historically maintained its value over time.

When my Father passed away in a freak hunting accident his coin collection was passed on to me but that wasn't what got me into stacking. In fact there was a time I was desperate for cash and nearly sold that collection to a dealer. But there were the good times I spent with my Father around his collection, fun memories that were treasured.
I held on to them.

I tightened my bootstraps and apron. Got my Nursing Certificate and planned a stable future for my growing boys. After several years of long front line shifts things weren't going according to my meticulous budget plan. Inflation seemed to out pace what cost of living increases I got. Something didn't seemed right.

I looked for investing ideals, Gold specialist Martin Armstrong had a fascinating and revealing economic model seminar, then I found Chris Duane's YouTube series; The Greatest Truth never told. I had to explore the rabbit hole further.
Books like the Creature from Jekyll Island, Charle Savoie's The Silver Stealers, Mike Maloney's Youtube video series; The Hidden secrets of money.
I've been Stacking ever since.

Sorry for the super late response dear, I did what I could this week.. BUT I read the comment early last week, just wasn't able to respond..

I'm happy that you got to hold on to them! I know how it feels to have to sell everything with a bit of value to buy food. It sucks. I'm so pleased to read that you could "save" these memories with your father!

At some point, I will make time to dig into this stuff further, I should bookmark the links for now and probably create a nice bundle of these links for when I have the focus to grab my head around that stuff.

Thank you for sharing this, post incoming soon! Currently finishing it :)
