Look beyond the eyes

Warm greetings to all members of the ThoughtfulDailyPost community. This is my first time here and I hope there will be others. I would like to share with you some reflections that have come to me as a result of my experiences. I am convinced that the environment has a great influence, it molds us, and what we live as children builds our adulthood.

I am the existential panorama, imperfect and unfinished of enriching experiences. Some events have shaken me with possession again and again, others on the contrary have crouched and sheltered me, converging inseparably, in the necessary balance.

In my journey, my suitcase empties and fills up tirelessly, with its heterogeneous content. In it there are adventures and fun, but also challenges and disappointments, what does not run out, and is always present are the dear and special people.

This is how I travel in the thoughtlessness of the now, this is how I walk my path. All the events that occur in their fair measure are of great value and have cooperated to generate what I am today. Not everything is finished, I continue in this evolutionary process of development by unlearning, learning, and relearning on this path until it is time for my last breath.

Perhaps by fate, my first years of life were spent under the tutelage and guidance of my maternal grandmother. She was an amazing woman, with an energetic and powerful character, with expressive eyes in which her gaze allowed to appreciate the wisdom that the years grant, that experience, which formal studies do not grant. Charismatic and kind, with a contagious and scandalous joy.

She took me and took me to her world, put at my feet for my enjoyment and joy, her town stopped in time and all that was in it. Her mornings of early roosters crowing and nights of silence sheltered by the moonlit stars. We live in a simple and modest house, with gardens everywhere. She always prepared natural food without additives, but succulent, appetizing, and healthy.

Nature in all its splendor was the jewel of the place. Mountains and valleys, in amplitude, spaces dominated by the essence and ancestral wisdom. A town of cobblestone streets and narrow roads, with friendly and cordial people, expressions of simplicity in the forms. An example of an elemental social life but full of great human content, reflected in solidarity and mutual help.

They were extraordinary and wonderful years, imperishable traces were stamped in my being. Days and nights of daily wisdom, of worldly philosophy, without frills or fuss, but with a lot of love. What a challenge for an older woman to raise a restless, insistent and curious girl. But she never complained or lamented, she was always active and determined, and took on the challenge with excitement.

Today I recognize that they were difficult years for her, it seems that I stayed with an evolutionary stage in the fixation and that was the "why", my curiosity had no limits. I insisted with questions to everything I observed and said "Why Tita?". "Why Tita?" with her liveliness and insight, when she had the answer, she would adapt it for me and quench my restlessness.

When I didn't have the answer or it didn't suit me, she would get angry and express "Girl, you were born with an inquisitive tongue, you will be very reflexive," she would stop as if hunting for words and continue "You tire me and exhaust me, everything for you is a question," she would think for a few moments, observe me and express "Not everything has an answer, not everything is known, everything can be seen, but not everything can be looked at. You must understand and learn to look beyond your eyes."

That phrase "look beyond the eyes" remained agglutinated in my being, in my essence forever. A phrase that was decisive throughout my existence.

And today in these reflections that I share with you, there is much authenticity in that phrase. We see everything as a natural process, often unintentionally, it is the faculty that our eyes give us. On the contrary, looking is learned, it is felt, it is internalized, it is the product of interpretations and socialization, and it necessarily involves the senses.

To look is to transform what we see, we look from what we are, so it will depend on our inner self. It is to give meaning, it is to transit in a special language, that is to say, without speaking. Looking establishes connections, links feelings, and emotions, codes, and interconnects them.

Many times we think we see something in a person, because they tell us so, and mistakenly we do not take the step to move forward, to risk, and look beyond what we see. We are probably losing a great person, who will transmute our path bringing light, energy, and value to our existence.

At other times we see only our limitations and weaknesses, that is, we remain on the surface and there we stop without discovering the potential that lies within us. Because if we really looked, we would discover the strength, skills and goodness that are hidden, that are our own and belong to us, that make us unique, valuable and unrepeatable.

I always try to look beyond the eyes.
I miss you, Grandma Tita...

Thank you for your visit.

How wonderful to see you here! Well... you know; it is good to see you posting in the Thoughtful Daily Post Community. Such powerful and moving words! I am especially drawn to this particular part:

Certainly right in line, with the energy that I was trying to share with everyone, and in hopes that... everyone would share with... well, everyone! I look forward to seeing what you will share with us next!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Very excited and grateful @wesphilbin for your kind words.
I am very happy and gratified to start my activity in this community. Thank you very much for your appreciation and support for my reflections, those that are sprouting and emerging in the transit of this path called life.
Often we handle seeing and looking as synonyms, but to see we only need our precious eyes to be healthy. On the contrary, to look is to scrutinize, to go beyond, to connect and discover what is valuable and what is almost always hidden. That is the task to give value and discover it.
Honored and proud of my badge, thank you very much. With satisfaction I am now part of the ThoughtfulDailyPost family.
Committed to prepare another sharing of experiences that help to energize the soul.
Happy weekend to you and yours!
