Full Day of AI Work With My Coworker

Went to the downtown Seattle office today, but unlike most days that I am there today was actually a very productive day. I have worked with one of our principal software engineers that just returned from his vacation on Sitecore 10.5 update.

He was working from home and I was physically present downtown so we got on an eight hour Teams meeting. Naturally it would have been even more effective if we were both working from home that way I would not waste a bunch of gas and three hours on my commute.

But it is what it is. Political climate is such that it is in my best interest to just go along with the back to the office mandate.

Anyway, we used his Artificial Intelligence tokens because I ran out of my tokens during this complex upgrade. I did get $100 more in tokens to finish the upgrade, but I intend to use his tokens first as he is a lot less heavy Artificial Intelligence user.

He is still using Visual Studio 2022 for his GitHub Copilot and because only the latest versions of Visual Studio 2025 have ability to use a good Agent harness the Visual Studio 2022 Artificial Intelligence Agent experience is severely limited.

So in the process of working on this upgrade I am teaching him how to use GitHub Copilot as well as Visual Studio Code. There are a lot of little things from how you monitor your token usage to how you determine when you should stay in the current session or start a new session.

You don't want to have a long conversation in the same session that touches variety of tasks unless context of the conversation is important to all the various tasks.

As the context window of the session fills up the cost of each request goes up and quality of responses goes down. We also covered the importance of having plans for the agents and use the right LLM model for each task.

It is very inefficient to use expensive thinking LLM models for simple tasks, but sometimes you need the latest thinking model to get things done faster and at lower price.

Code writing is totally obsolete, but guiding Artificial Intelligence agents is now the skill that is in demand. Specifications writing is also critical to the development process a lot more than before.

I did get good steps despite sitting on my butt all day. Walking to and from the train really helps.

It is also nice to see a small pump in Hive price, which shows that Hive is very much alive. Hopefully when Bitcoin makes new all time highs we are going to have another altcoin season and Hive is going to follow. Until then I will be accumulating all the Hive tokens I get my hands on.
