Very nice day to finish off the weekend. We started it nice and slow watching a couple of episodes of Foundation. We are almost mid second season.
Then our son came over and we had a really good weight lifting workout together in my garage gym while listening to old school song remixes on YouTube and chatting a little bit.
We listened to Sweet Dreams Are Made of... You're in The Army Now, Rasputin, some Modern Talking. Thomas Anders has a number of cool videos where he is in the music videos as himself now next to himself when Modern Talking was popular in the eighties when he was young generated by AI. Those are actually quite interesting.
Like this one for example:
After the workout my wife made an old soviet dish called USSR pasta. That is basically spaghetti mixed with eggs and topped with sugar.
I know, not very healthy lol. Then we followed it up with a home made chocolate banana milkshake. Sometimes you have to enjoy life's little pleasures, and the best time is right after working out so that your body can put it to good use and jump start muscle recovery.
We had a pretty good conversation at the table learned what is going on in his life and about his experience in the MBA program so far.
One thing that came up is that he doesn't have control over his money. He has his mom access his bank account and transfer money into a brokerage account and invest it for him.
It's good that she is helping him, but he should just ask her for advice and do the transactions himself. He has no interest in that, but what is even worse is that when I brought up that he should have full control over his money in case some disagreement comes up in the future. His response was that he just doesn't foresee it...
I can't convince him otherwise. I had plenty of my own experiences with my parents taking advantage of their access to my assets, but it doesn't help me convince him not to make the same mistakes.
We can't help our kids to learn from our mistakes, they have to learn from their own mistakes unfortunately.
What would you do in such situation?

One of my old-time favourite songs, and I also love modern talking...
I don't have kids, but if I had and faced this issue, I would have either left him alone, learning from experience, or I would have applied Asian ways of manipulating kids....🤣 But I prefer the first option...
I will be leaving him alone, but will let him know my opinion...
That's actually a wise idea...
That photo with the Adirondack chairs looks like something off the coast of Michigan.
It is actually Whidbey Island and you are looking at the ocean water of the Puget Sound.
Beautiful!
My son is not that old yet for bank transaction, buy kids are stubborn and unless they smash their head on the wall they don't understand it... It's never easy to give advices... Probably the mom should stop doing transactions and let him arrange himself
Lovely weather though, and relaxing on that red chairs
She should, but I don't have a say in that. We divorced 20 years ago, she left to a different state leaving him with me only to come back into his life when he was in college. Now he is almost 24 and after three years of working he is making good money but doesn't want to manage it.
Oh yea if you are divorced you can't put the mouth on what she does or not... It's weird how he trusts her after she disappeared and left you alone though, it would be a shame if he gets tricked
