I built a molecular model of a methane molecule (CH₄) using a ball-and-stick molecular modeling kit. I started with one black ball to represent the carbon atom and four white balls to represent the hydrogen atoms. I then used four white connecting rods to attach each hydrogen atom to the central carbon atom, showing the four single covalent bonds in the molecule.

After connecting all the atoms, I arranged the four hydrogen atoms evenly around the carbon atom in a three-dimensional tetrahedral shape. This arrangement reflects the actual geometry of methane, in which the bond angles are approximately 109.5 degrees. Building this model helped me understand how carbon can form four bonds and how the three-dimensional shape of a molecule affects its structure.
