My Actifit Report Card: June 24 2025

Hey guys, I'm back.

Last night I was tired once again and couldn’t make an active post. But that’s a good thing because I fell asleep early. I had my dinner, watched a movie, and then got so sleepy that I just went to bed.

I woke up at 2am, had to go to the bathroom, and then came back, scrolled on Facebook, checked my WhatsApp messages, and went back to sleep.

Now I’ve woken up at 6:30am. I did my usual routine, finished cleaning up, and now I’m back in bed again.

I’ll finish this post and then go take a shower, have my breakfast, and head to the nursery.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about a lot of things, especially ways to market and promote my business. I’m trying to come up with a strategy that’ll help me get more sales and attract new customers, especially bigger customers, honestly.

Hopefully, by the end of this month, the renovation will be over.

For those who are reading my post for the first time, let me just give you a little bit of background. I own a nursery where I grow and sell plants. Sometimes we don't grow the plants, we buy them from other wholesalers and then sell to the retail customers.

I’m a B2C business owner. It’s been like 3 years since I started this business and this is the 4th year now.

Lately, sales have been dropping because of competition, because of various reasons which I am trying to decipher and understand. I want to figure out exactly why my sales have been dropping and work on that.

I'm good at growing the plants. I'm good at maintaining them. I'm good at, you know, not letting them die. Most of my friends, you know, complain that all the plants that they buy end up drying up and dying within a few months. But I'm not that type of person. I know how to care for plants.

I have read extensively. I have watched hundreds, maybe thousands of videos. I have talked with gardeners. I have talked with, you know, government, agriculture department employees. I have had discussions with hobby gardeners. I have spent countless, countless hours gathering knowledge about how to, you know, maintain, grow plants and how to not let them die.


What I'm not good at is promoting my business. I'll be honest here, I'll pour my heart out so that, you know, I can just have this on record and try to improve myself. I'm not good at marketing and promoting my business, so I'm thinking of ways to, you know, bring more sales, more customers, and bigger customers.

And for that, I'm planning to renovate the whole nursery. We haven't had a clean nursery in a while. There were a lot of dead plants, there were plants that were not selling, so we have to get rid of those plants as well.

This is the thing with the nursery business, there are hundreds and thousands of varieties, and people only want certain kinds of plants. Sometimes when I bring a new type of plant, people will be like, oh my god, that's so good, it looks good, the price is good, and they buy it.

Like for example, last year when I brought Monstera deliciosa and Pink Princess plants, the Monstera deliciosa didn’t sell, but the Pink Princess was sold like hot cakes.

And now I have a small stock of Monstera deliciosa whose buying price is more than what I can sell it for now, even at retail prices. Because prices have been falling down for Monsteras quite a lot. It's not as in demand as it used to be a few years ago.

So what I'm planning to do is get some eyeballs on Facebook and Instagram, do some paid promotions, paid influencer promotions, or paid ads on these platforms. I've been seeing a lot of people doing that and they're getting good returns, good ROI for their investments, so I'm planning to do that as well.

I have a friend who is good at Instagram ads, so I'll take his help. Yeah, of course, I'm going to pay him for his services and then get my ads started on that platform.

Hopefully I'll get more sales, hopefully I'll get better customers, and hopefully my business will thrive in the coming years.

So I think this is it. I have written enough and I'll share more tomorrow. I have to keep some of my ideas for tomorrow as well.

If you read my old posts, you might remember that I am trying to save $300 to $1000 by the end of this year and get an iPhone or a MI phone. It depends on how much money I save. So far the journey has been good.

So far the returns on these posts are good enough, but eventually I know it will dry up and I'll have to make more efforts. But I'm not too worried. Sometimes the market decides to pump and we end up with a good return for our investment. Your investment can be time or money. My investment is my time.

Sounds like you know plants! So, what about offering a class to the public on specifics about plant care in general or for a specific species? There's tons of ideas coming to me about what you could offer in those classes. Just food for thought.....

I do know a lot about plants but I'm not sure anyone would pay me to learn about plants especially now because there's a lot of free information on the internet.

Well......maybe if you taught how to plant specific plants; like holding a class, maybe with no charge, but just to get folks into your nursery?

There is a local nursery here that does that and the classes bring people in and they spend money to purchase plants they didn't plan on getting.
