Sad tale : My Actifit Report Card: June 14 2026
Nature can seem cruel sometimes 😔. We learned today from local environmental staff that one of our swans at Ifield Mill Pond has passed. It is not known how this happened, but tests are being done on the bird by environmental authorities. There are still two cygnets surviving as you can see in my pictures, amongst other wild fowl.
There are so many geese here now. Mostly canada geese, but a few other types, such as Egyptian geese.
This lake is so nice to walk around. Especially with the suspended platform across the middle.
Even with such sad news, we know that nature has resilience to recover from setbacks like this and future years will show this.

We spoke to a guy at the lake who claims to be from animal welfare. He says they are testing the dead bird to try and find out the reason for death. Lets hope it is not fowl play (pun not intended). 🤔

Very sad this is happening we get alot of the same birds here where i live in Northampton but they are doing OK.
People must stop feeding these birds bread for starters as it swells in their bellies and they will eat it regardless and it's no good.
People would be better off feeding them frozen peas if they must but should really just allow nature to take its course.
They are not pets.

We often find a man there feeding grain to the swans. He says that he is from animal welfare but has no identification. He tries to discourage people from getting close to the swans but I think this is a little OTT.
