Conditions were a little breezy and chilly but there was a little sunshine to keep us warmed enough and a hot coffee was very welcome at the lakeside cafe.

The lake was looking great after some tidying up from the ground staff here. But the best show was put on by the wild life. We were amazed at the sight of a wild heron stalking fish right beside the pathway.

I actually watched it catch a fish and swallow it whole in a matter of seconds, incredible!
There were some swans also parading around as if they own the lake. The geese were keeping a safe distance as the swans are much bigger! π

There are more flowers and plants appearing every time I come here and today was no different.

But you cant go to a lake in spring without spotting some young wild fowl. A family of Egyptian geese were on the bank, including a pure white one. A very rare sight.

We enjoyed the walk, and most of the way around we were sheltered from the wind. The coffee was good too! π

A cute little goose-will it stay white at maturity, or is this just a gosling type stage?
I also see you have a lovely patch of Skunk Weed growing there! It looks like it was a beautiful day for you despite the chill in the air. Hot coffee would be appreciated as I'm sure that you enjoyed!
I had to view your pictures on another platform as they weren't viewable via actifit.
Nice job with your 6900 @actifit steps for the day. Take care and enjoy!
I think the white gosling could be albino, but not absolutely sure as albino eyes are usually pink.
So that is called Skunk Weed! I had no idea, thanks for that. There is much more here, quite a large area.
As we were walking around the lake in the breeze, the unmistakable smell of Nordic Balsam occasionally wafted across. These trees release a lovely fresh musky scent from the new shoots. I usually first notice this while out on my mountain bike in spring.
Thanks for your reply. π

As the Skunk Weed matures, it will send out a distinctly 'skunky' odor! You won't be able to mistake it-trust me!
If you get back there and notice the gosling, it will be interesting to see what color it turns.
Take care and enjoy the day!

What a lovely walk around Tilgate Lake. It's truly beautiful around there. Imagine there's watersports too. A boat ride would be lovely too. π Thank you for sharing your lovely photos. They did brighten up my day. Enjoy a lovely week ahead!
