It was time to get out into the bridalways and tracks to check the conditions after a brief period of drier weather. Although it was cold today at around 6 to 8 degrees, the sun came out for a while and it felt ok for cycling.

Generally, the surfaces were good, but as I proceeded there were some very wet patches which were only just passable on my bike. The ground is drying gradually, but as long as we don't get too much rain.

I found a lovely patch of primroses. See my pictures. They look so good in their natural environment.

There is so much lovely scenery out in the countryside, I always look forward to getting out on these more remote tracks in spring and summer. It's looking good, so I will start planning some longer rides.

Bridalways sometimes pass through farmyards so it is always best to proceed with caution and respect when approaching these private places. Marked bridalways and footpaths are public rights of way here in the UK even through private property. We are lucky to have this access to our wonderful countryside.
This ride turned out to be 15 miles in total, more than I planned but a good ride to improve fitness for the coming longer rides.
