10cm of Excuses to Stop and Snap

Today’s walk was a gentle rebellion against the grind, a pause button in white.

With nearly 10 cm of fresh snow blanketing the world outside, I took my usual lunch walk but dialed it way down. Not the usual 5-6km, but that wasn’t the point today. Every step crunched, every breath misted, and every scene begged for a photo. And so, the walk became less about fitness and more about framing.

The canal was a glassy contrast to the snow-lined banks, trees stood skeletal and stoic, and even the ducks looked mildly annoyed by the frozen puddles. The little village church in the first shot? It felt like something straight out of a postcard. If that steeple had chimed while I passed, I’d have believed time actually froze.

What struck me most was how slowing down made space, not just physically, but mentally. With no pressure to hit a distance goal, I just wandered, noticed, captured. There’s something pretty liberating in that. The snow may have shortened the route, but it deepened the experience.

With these captivating views you've shared with us, who wouldn't want to stop and photograph them. I'd fail if I try to. Hehehe.

Magical scenes around your neck of the woods. We had snow here in southern England but it didn’t linger long, so no photographs from my end sadly.

The crunching of the fresh snow is awesome. I made a short lunch walk. But because I enjoyed it so muc, I also had a late evening walk.
With the snow, the world looks so peacefull.

Yes, the feeling of peace and quiet is immense in such snow! And the crunching… love it :-)
Unfortunately I was only able to go for one walk, by the time the office day ended, the sun is already down here at wintertime…
