I woke up very early in the morning preparing to go and collect my passport ID card which has been ready since three months ago. I intentionally waited until this time to get it because the location was in my state and wasn't too far from my aunt's place. I wanted to use a stone to kill as many birds as I wanted to save me from wasting transport fare.
On the day, my aunt insisted I must take something before going out as I didn't know when I would be returning back home. Thank God I heeded to her, else, it would have been me wishing I should have listened and taken something into my stomach.
Immediately, she suggested pap and bean cake, and I screamed! She was surprised and asked why did I scream like that. "It's been long I took pap and bean cake," I said. I can't remember the last time I took this combination of food because it's been a very long time.
I ate something like this in January when I was at home with my family and that was it. However, I made bean flour then when I was leaving my hometown which I make with bread mostly, or I eat alone but not really good without pap.
My aunt made the pap while I fried the bean cake. It's easy to get pap where I live but I don't like buying such from anyone because I don't know which water they use to make it. I value cleanliness and am also sensitive to whatever is connected to hygiene. The last time I made pap was at my aunt's place where she helped me get guinea corn and maize, boiled and soaked for a few days and ground it at a local store. It was safer than buying from hawkers. So also, the bean flour was homemade. When both got finished, I couldn't do another by myself because of the stress in it.
I love pap and bean cake served as breakfast. My aunt has never missed a day not taking this combination unless she has somewhere urgent to go in the morning. This is something we love in my family and it has always been fun when preparing this meal for everyone.
My aunt would always compliment me on how I used to fry the bean cake and whenever I was around, she wouldn't allow anyone other than to me prepare for the family. Having this as breakfast was always the best for us. My heart was glad to eat this meal again after a very long time.
After eating, I stepped out of the house to go where I wanted to go. My aunt too had somewhere to visit, so we left home together. That is my aunt going in the front while I was behind taking random pictures, the young boy also was taken randomly, though was a friend of my aunt who saw her and greeted her.
Finally, I got to my destination at the Immigration Office.
I couldn't take pictures as I was scared and careful too because of the Navy officers moving around. I don't want to be caught and so, only took these ones. I was sitting under the tent where those who had appointments were. Others were given numbers because they were just there to begin the process from the start while I wasn't given since I only came for collection.
I thought I would stay longer but didn't and I was excited when I was attended to on time. Here is my passport! Ready to fly out of the country anytime π€£
When I got home and showed my aunt the passport, she was happy and started jubilating around the house, hehehe. With that, she told me how she had plucked some pawpaw behind the house and prepared one of them for me to enjoy. I used that as my lunch.
