Hello, beautiful people! Welcome to my blog. It's a pleasure to have you in this space. Once again, welcome 🤗
Hostel life is a very interesting one, as you get to meet with different kinds of people: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Hostel life, to an extent, somehow offers one a transformative experience; it helps you learn how to live and accommodate people; it teaches you how to be smart; if not, some set of people will run you street and take advantage of you. It will teach you how to protect and take good care of your belongings.
Before I got admission into the university, I had already made up my mind that I was going to stay on campus; I didn't have any personal reasons, and money was not the issue because I had money.
The university I attended had different big hostels that could accommodate more than 70% of all their students.
From my 100-300 level, I didn't have any issues with getting accommodations, and to an extent, I had good roommates, even though everyone had their own little problems. Since I never had quarrels and fights with any of my roommates, I would say they were good people, unlike other rooms that were always entertaining us with different quarrels and fights.
However, in my 400 level, I couldn't get accommodation; the politics in the school were too much, so rooms that were meant for final-year students were given to people that knew someone in the Senate, even if this set of individuals were 100-level students.
After trying all I could but still not succeeding, I decided I was going to stay with a friend I squatted in my 300 level. When I called to ask her about her accommodations, she said she couldn't secure a room, and I didn't want to stay off campus.
A family friend decided she would squat me; we were nine in the room, and it was supposed to be a room of six. It was so frustrating; the room was tight.
Two of the girls in the room were so dirty and troublesome. They could leave a dirty pot filled with water for almost a week without washing it. When the water started smelling and you talked to them, they would say they didn't put it on anyone's head.
We had a big table in the room that everyone uses to cook. Whenever these girls cooked, they would leave the place all messed up. Everyone got tired of talking to them about it, so whenever anyone wants to cook after them, the person ends up cleaning the table before using it.
There were times when some of us in the room had to wash their pots and plates for our own well-being.
Even with all the shenanigans in the hostel, I still enjoyed my stay.
THANK YOU FOR READING TO THE END 🤗
