What's up plebs?
Back with another German mark from my collection, this time featuring an old fat white dude, just like how @cmmemes likes em!
What a beautiful chubby beast ❤️
As suggested by the engraved text, this 5 Mark coin, minted in 1975, is dedicated to Friedrich Ebert. Specifically, to the 50th Anniversary since his passing.
Here's a photo of how he actually looked like, back in 1925. To be fair, he looks much more fat in the coin, lmao:
In case you are unfamiliar with him, he was a German politician of the Social Democratic Party of Germany and also the first president of Germany from 1919 till his death in 1925.
He is probably best known for trying to restore order in the war-torn country, after becoming chancellor:
His policies at that time were primarily aimed at restoring peace and order in Germany and suppressing the left, to establish a democracy. To accomplish these goals, he allied himself with conservative and nationalistic political forces, in particular the leadership of the military under General Wilhelm Groener and the right-wing Freikorps.
With their help, Ebert's government crushed a number of liberal, socialist, communist and anarchist uprisings as well as those from the right, including the Kapp Putsch, a legacy that has made him a controversial historical figure. source
I didn't know much about him but after doing some reading it seems like he is a largely controversial figure, hated by many historians both in the right and the left...So being the centrist I am these days..my guess is he did a job well done 😂😂😂
If you are German or generally familiar with him I'd love to hear your opinion about him in the comments! If you don't know much about him, here's a link to wikipedia to learn more!
Ok, let's flip the coin now:
As always, a unique design of the angry imperial chicken 🐔 I really dig the spiky look in this one!
The design is by Reinhart Heinsdorff (1923 - 2002) who is quite famous for designing many German coins, along with being a sculptor and a painter.
The edge is also engraved:
It reads
DES VOLKES WOHL IST MEINER ARBEIT ZIEL
For
The goal of my work is the wellbeing of the people
Now, I couldn't find if this quote is directly from him but these exact words are engraved in his grave in a large altar stone made of shell limestone.
When it comes to precious metals, the coin weights 11.2 g, with a 0.625 silver purity. That's exactly 7 g of silver.
In the market, the coin goes for about 7-10$ depending on condition etc. It's pretty common so it's easy to score one in great condition.
Ok fellow plebs, I think I have covered pretty much all the basics about this coin!
I don't have much interest in this dude so for me it's just another piece for the stack without much sentimental value.
See you soon with more silver !

Nice coin! 🪙
I gotta add more German rounds to my collection!
They are the closest thing I can get to spot around my place so they are a favorite of mine. Plus, eagles are cool 😂
nothing turns me on like old fat white dudes :)
not old enough
They sure made him look bad on that coin... As a centrist myself I think he did the best with what he had at the time. Nice silver addition to your stack!
One thing for sure.. he was dealt with really shitty cards 😂
Stack that silver!
Looks like he needs a salad and a walk…..
Well that's racist!
Yeah well…..
Again, thanks to a coin, I learned about a historical figure, which is great. He looks a lot fatter on the coin, just like you said. Like a 70-year-old grandfather with chubby cheeks haha

Wow, they really did make him look bad on this coin! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks a lot of the German eagle designs look like angry chickens. 😆
that day was making memes back in the day for sure
I didn't know much about him either but it does look like he did quite a few things.

So much shiny stuff I'm jealous!
Do they always have specific reasons to why they put people’s picture on a coin?
"Braw swatchin' silvers mate!"

Today the way we are seeing that the price of silver is increasing again and all these coins are very beautiful and their designs are also very beautiful.
Friedrich Ebert is a transgender latest research showed.
