REGARDLESS OF INCOME

As a child, I grew up in an apartment that people live opposite themselves in the same place. It was a big compound because the apartment just had one room each although you can get two rooms if you wanted but most people had one room, my family included. We weren’t financially buoyant and that was one of the reasons we settled for a place like that. Normally, one will think that the people that lived in a place like that, since they are not rich, they will be all tattered and dirty but that wasn’t the case for everyone.

We lived with just my dad (I mean my siblings and I). And because of that, we didn’t really care about being clean at first because my dad was not always around but then, there was this family a few rooms away from us. They were so neat and I was always amazed at how the mother of the house managed to keep the house so clean almost every day. You know when you stay with children it’s hard to maintain a clean and arranged space but it was different for that family. Apparently, the woman has taught her kids to also put things in their right places and sweep whenever the house was unclean.

We didn’t have my mum around to teach us all these but I saw how this woman brought her children up and I was inspired to want to keep our own place clean too. I was young but I did it anyways. I tried as much as I can to always remove dirt and that was just how I continued learning how to be clean even when I have all the opportunities to be dirty and lazy. At first, I was of the mind that it is only those who are well to do financially that can keep a clean space because they can easily hire a nanny to help but that was a big fallacy. When it comes to cleanliness, it all depends on the individuals involved in it.

So according to the hivelearners topic for this first edition, we are asked to share our thoughts on MONEY BEGETS HYGIENE. There are several questions and I’ll just stick to giving responses to those questions.

Is a person's level of cleanliness dependent on how much they earn?

Personally, I don’t think a persons level of cleanliness is dependent on how much they earn but it aids in it. This is because, like I said in my introduction, a lot of us grew up in very poor environments but even in that state, we weren’t unclean. So I believe it’s all in the training and the mindset a person has.

How much influence does money have on how neat or hygienic a person can be?

I believe money will have a lot of influence on a person’s neatness and hygiene but then, it still depends on the persons training. If the person has not always been a clean person, even when they have the world, they will still struggle to be neat and hygienic in whatever they do. But for someone who has always been cleanliness minded, having money will only make life more fun for them because they can easily know what needs adjustment in their space and make necessary improvements as soon as possible. But someone who doesn’t even know they are not clean, if they have the whole world nothing will change except they have a maid or someone who has that training.

From the appearance, environment, and habits, can neatness exist independent of wealth?

Yes, I believe neatness can exist independent of wealth. As long as the person is interested in being neat, whether they have the money or not, they will always try to stay neat even though it’s not in a flamboyant way. But for someone like that, someone interested in being neat, when they have money, it will make them more attractive because they already have the mind to be neat and hygienic. So even in the absence of wealth, someone can be clean but then, having wealthy will be a good boost to the person’s level of cleanliness.

That’s my response to the question. Not being wealthy is not an excuse to be dirty or unkempt. There are little things we can do to stay clean that doesn’t require us to have the whole world first.

Thank you for reading through. ❤️

When wealth meets someone who has the mind to be neat, it's a classic combo 😇 a poor but clean person has limited materials to execute his cleanliness but with money, cleanliness will be at it's peak hehe.

Regardless of wealth, cleanliness lives in the mindset of people who are just like that.

True. There are a lot of people who have money but don't keep their homes neat, While some who grew up with neatness know the value of keeping a home clean.

Exactly! Riches just doesn’t define neatness.

Thanks for stopping by, Favy. 🤭

While wealth can help someone to easily maintain a cleaner environment, being hygienic has to lot more to do with the person's mindset and upbringing.
I love the woman in your story and the positive impact she has on your upbringing.

You have said it all.
The mindset is what makes it sustainable and genuine.

Some people with money don't even have the hygienic mindset ..it's bad because I have seen one

One can simply think that such a person can hire a cleaner to do the job for her but she is not even seeing the dirt...that's the height of unhygienic people even with money

That’s the annoying part. Not being able to see the dirt or disorganized space.

Thanks for your input, mama. 🥰

Yeah. I also believe that people are not just neat because they have money, but because is a character in them to be neat.
Thanks for sharing

Thank you for sharing, the great writer Hopestylist.
I wholeheartedly agree with your point ,neatness is truly a personal choice, not a matter of wealth.
Whether rich or not, it all comes down to the individual.

It’s my pleasure, Kingdomzy. 🥰
That’s just it. If you are neat you are neat. The money only makes you more classy.

Thank you so much for stopping by. 🤗

I’ve honestly been feeling a bit lost in this Hive community for a while now, and it's been overwhelming trying to figure things out on my own.
If it’s okay with you, I’d truly appreciate a helping hand maybe through WhatsApp so you can guide me better and help clear some of this confusion.

A beautiful piece about hygiene. It is said that the way you do one thing is how you do everything else. Indeed a good hygiene is a sign of strong character and discipline which echoes on into other spheres of life. Looking forward to more of your writing.

@hopestylist if it's not too much trouble, my recent post in the flame was muted, I'm unsure what policy it violates. I need your counsel.

That’s right. Thank you for agreeing with me, Valorian.

Even as having good income can aid in cleanliness, it will only make sense to someone who sees cleanliness as a thing. Nice take on this.
