Introduction
Hello all, hope all of you are doing fine. I am really excited as we are just a week away from Chinese New Year. The festivities are hitting a high as we push towards the last leg before Chinese New Year is upon us.
Festivities Ramp
I am really thankful that as a photographer, I get to take part in many community events around Singapore to capture the amazing moments and memories for these organizations.
So over the weekend, I just covered a senior citizen Chinese New Year dinner. I am so amazed by the energy from all the senior citizens taking part in this event. And to elevate the spirits and to bring the festive mood to the participants, local artiste Yang Guang Ke Le was invited to host the event. A bubbly young lady whom injects energy to the event and ensure everyone had fun and this lovely lady is the one in my cover photo for this post.

As you can see, senior citizens are gathered together for this event and I like the support and energy that the seniors are giving towards this event. Everyone just want to come down to have fun.

To get things started, there was a dance performance by their "Morning Exercise Interest Group" which I really think is something amazing. And this dance performance actually incorporate some form of their morning exercise elements into it, simple coordinated step that looked just fine for any seniors in the audience to learn as well.

We can never have a Chinese New Year celebration without the traditional lion dance. And I am equally amazed that the lion dance troupe were actually formed by a few members of the youth group in the community. While not being as polished as the professional ones, there are up to the task and received loads of love from the crowd as they passed through. Everyone wanted a bit of luck from the blessings they bring so you can see from the picture above, everyone just want to have a friendly pat on the lion to bring home some luck.

This is a night of performance and singing. Another group caught my eye whom brought beautiful dance costumes back from Zhang Jia Jie in China. As they dance to the music, many in the audience also rise from their seats and dance along.

If you can see from the above photo, seniors gathered to the front and did their favourite line dance. The amazing thing is that, as long there is a leader whom started a particular dance step, everyone just come in and join along, dancing to the same dance step in synchronized fashion. And of course, time to time, there will be seniors wanting to have a selfie with the bubbly Yang Guang Ke Le.

While there is no alcohol served at the event, people brought their own and gave toast the audience as a when they felt like to. Everything so spontaneous and I can really feel their joy coming down to this event, meeting their friends and dance buddies.

And to wrap things up, all performers will always share their Chinese New Year greeting to everyone in the audience. I had loads of fun capturing the joy of the participants and I am sure, the seniors also had loads of fun spending time with one another, singing, dancing and catching up over dinner.
Hope to be able to invited to capture another of their event soon.
