Welcome to Chef Straykat Cooks! Where I cook whatever comes to mind with whatever ingredients available! Sounds like disaster, isn't it? No, no, no! This recipe was tested and tasted by no less than the chef's exquisite palate! π«°π»
Hello! Yes, it's another sauteed shrimp paste recipe. Since I still have lots of sauteed shrimp paste left, I decided to make the Bagoong Rice. I have heard of this intriguing rice several years ago from restaurants to blogs. I was curious and thought it was really delicious because of how people described it.
I have all the ingredients except for spring onion but this is only used for garnishing so I still pushed through in making this odd fried rice. If you have spring onion you can add it later on top of your rice. :)
This is going to be my first time cooking and tasting bagoong rice. I'm excited!
INGREDIENTS | ||
---|---|---|
β’ 1 Cup Cooked Rice | ||
β’ 1 Clove Garlic (minced) | ||
β’ 1/4 Medium White Onion (mined) | ||
β’ 1 Tomato (diced and seeds removed) | ||
β’ 1 Tbsp. Sauteed Shrimp Paste or Bagoong Alamang | ||
β’ 1 Tsp. White Sugar | ||
β’ 1/2 Tbsp. Soy Sauce | ||
β’ 1 Tbsp. Butter |
(1) Put butter on pan and saute garlic, onion, and tomato. Saute until tomato becomes soft.
(2) Add the cooked rice and mix a bit. I mean, you don't have to mix the rice completely yet because we're still adding some ingredients after. Also note that it is best to use left over rice so the rice isn't too soft.
(3) Add sauteed shrimp paste, sugar, and soy sauce. Mix until everything is blended together.
(4) Get a small cup, like a cup for soup, and pour the rice mixture in it. Let it sit for 5 minutes before turning it upside down on your plate. If the rice doesn't detach from the cup automatically, then you can tap the cup until the rice falls off.
If you want your rice in dome shape then follow this step. But of course, you can directly scoop your rice directly from the pan the into your plate. :)
Serve and enjoy!!!
Bagoong Rice is easy as that, my friends! If you have sauteed shrimp paste in your pantry then try making this peculiar fried rice. With its taste, I believe it can stand alone as a meal. I mean, you can just eat it even without a viand.
We're used of eating egg fried rice or turmeric rice. It's time to explore and try something new. I promise this tastes great! I was surprised how delicious this recipe turned out and it looks like I would be making bagoong rice often in the future. I have already made it twice as of writing this post.
Cheers to another rice recipe discovery!
This is very nice, I am sure my husband is going to love this recipe, he is a bagoong lover.
