Struggle and Survival

I’ve been an emotional wreck all day, and I have STRAW to thank for that. Also, thanks to everyone who recommended the movie to me.

STRAW is the reason I don’t watch tragic movies. I cried a river today and I am not proud of myself and to make matters worse I was watching it while I was braiding my hair. Everyone in the saloon thought my hair was hurting me badly, little did they know the reason for my tears was that I was watching a movie and that movie was STRAW!

To us, that was just a movie while in real life these things happen to people. Your life can move from 100 to 0 in no time and without warning.

All I could think of after watching the movie is the condition of people. Oh boy, people are going through a lot.

You think you have problems? When you get to hear others' problems you’d know yours isn’t anything and you can pass as being privileged in the eyes of these people. No offense though.

I couldn’t help but think about how some people survive. The world can be so cruel and tough sometimes and carrying so much baggage can make it even harder to survive.

Believe it or not, people are suffering. Some people don’t know where they’d get their next meal from and most of these people aren’t even lazy.

I used to doubt people when they say they have nothing in their account, trust me I’d look at you like you’re joking or exaggerating. What do you mean you have absolutely nothing at all?

If you ever tell me this, I’d think you have money saved up somewhere or some asset lying around somewhere that you can sell anytime. I got to understand this when an acquaintance of mine opened up to me that she was dead serious about having nothing.

Hearing her story I came to believe and understand what people meant by saying they have no “penny or kobo”. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not so wealthy but I think the challenges of life hasn’t hit me to a point where I have absolutely nothing which is why I’m usually stunned when people say they have nothing to their name.

Most of us are so lucky, we know that if it ever gets so bad we’d come out of the situation before we get to point zero but some people out there do not have such privileges and that hurts.

It hurts to see families struggle so hard and it feels like nothing is working. They keep going in circles.

A brief study of humanity’s hardship would make you understand why people begin to consider options like suicide. Suicide is not the best option or last resort but when life pushes these people to a point of no return, they begin to consider it.

I pray the world gets better someday. I pray everyone becomes rich and no one has to ever suffer.

To everyone going through challenges beyond your control, I pray you overcome them. Please don’t give up, hang in there😃
