Hello everyone from the Hive community!
Yesterday, I felt like breaking the routine and treating myself to a little pleasure by having lunch at the BLACK IRIS restaurant, located just near my home. You know, I often eat at home, but every now and then, I enjoy going out to savor some delicious dishes in a pleasant setting. BLACK IRIS is the perfect place for that! It's a calm restaurant, very clean, and the service is always impeccable.
As soon as I walked in, the warm welcome instantly made me feel at ease. This is one of the things I like most about this restaurant: you feel good from the very first moment. The peaceful atmosphere invites relaxation, allowing you to truly enjoy your meal without rushing.
I have chosen a dish based on eggs and small pieces of meat. A simple combination, but so delicious!
In Morocco, this dish is called Eggs with KHLII : Eggs with KHLII are a traditional Moroccan dish that is appreciated for its simplicity and rich flavour. KHLII is a type of preserved meat, often beef or mutton, which has been dried in the sun and then preserved in fat after being marinated in spices such as cumin, garlic and salt. This process preserves the meat over a long period.
The dish involves cooking eggs in a pan with pieces of KHLII, which releases its fragrant fat as it cooks, giving the eggs a delicious and unique flavour. The result is a creamy mixture in which the flavours of the KHLII permeate the eggs, creating a light meal that is both simple and comforting.
KHLII is very popular in the northern towns of Morocco, which are renowned for their traditional preparation of this candied meat.
To elevate the dish, there were a few black olives, which brought a slightly stronger flavor.
Of course, there was also the pistolet bread, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, a real treat to accompany the meal. It’s exactly the kind of lunch that combines simplicity and authenticity, everything I love. Not to mention the mint tea, which is, for me, the perfect companion for this type of meal. Fresh and aromatic, it wonderfully complements the flavors of the dish.
For dessert, I opted for a plain yogurt, light and refreshing, accompanied by a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. After such a well-balanced meal, it was exactly what I needed to end on a sweet and vitamin-filled note.
I hope you enjoyed the photos I took. Thank you for taking the time to read this post!
