MAIZE CHALLENGE 2022 // BOILED MAIZE CAN ALSO COLLABORATE WITH HONEY BEANS.
There are some Africa delicacies that are top notch when they are eaten alone but it's super top notch when one food, meal or most especially maize collaborates with other foods. Maize is a on it own, it can be roasted, boiled and also when it's sun dried, it can be grinded into powder form to swallow. We also have people who soak it till it's soft so that they grind it to make local pap. I wouldn't want to go into that right but I will share posts about it later. But here, I just wanted to share how I made boiled maize with honey beans. This combination is what we are trained with, so it's most likely cooked in almost every Nigerian home.
Removing the grain from maize Karnel also adding the honey beans into the grains.
After I have boiled the maize, of I want to prepare this kind of delicacy. The first thing first is to remove the maize grains from the maize Karnel( we call it suku agbado in Yorùbá)
Here is my honey beans call ewa oloyin in my dialect. Why is it called honey beans? It's because it has a very unique taste and sweetness of all the species of beans. So it dirt have to be picked before it's washed.
When I was done washing the honey beans, I added the honey beans into the maize grains that is already on the cooking has.
What are recipes added?
- Salt
- Maggi
- Grinded red pepper
- Red oil
When it's cooked for almost 45 minutes, added all the above recipes averagely. Then allows it to steam. After it's steamed, the below result is what you would get.
Final dishing...
All thanks to @felixxx for initiating the #maizechallenge2022.
