Mi Diario: 3 diciembre 2023 // My Diary: December 3 2023

Hola, querido hiver.

Hi, dear hiver.

In Ryan Holiday's Diary for Stoics we dedicate each month to reflect on a topic of interest to improve our lives and the attitude we take towards what happens to us.

In November we focused on acceptance, a term that can lead to confusion because it seems that we become passive objects that are resigned to what happens to them. This is not the case. Acceptance also implies action, especially when it comes to accepting our own limits and capabilities.

As the year draws to a close, I find it as inevitable to look back as it is to sniff the horizon that opens up before me. December is a month of taking stock and renewing hopes, of setting goals and reviewing what has been achieved.

In the midst of all this mixture, in the Diary for Stoics the central theme of the month is death. Being aware that our end will come helps me to relativise and not take to heart the things that bother me. There will always be injustices, wrongdoings, selfishness. We are human and we make mistakes sometimes without even thinking about it, just by following our instincts.

However, when I ask myself if what has bothered me will matter to me when I leave this world, how rarely do I nod! It is comforting to let go of what is not decisive in our lives, to free ourselves from misgivings and anger of no real importance.

Whenever I dislike something I try to meditate on its true dimension. And apart from the moments shared with those I have loved and love, little else matters to me in this life.

Notice: Everything published in this post is of my authorship, except for the elements in which I give credit to its author/s. Therefore, in case of plagiarism or dissemination without my permission, I will exercise my copyright if I deem it appropriate.
I take my photos on my iPhone, edit them with the Mac photo editor and the PicsArt application (free version).

That is a new approach to life, my friend. I think that is very true, because when we leave this world, everything that make us angry, sad, fear will not matter anymore.

I have been practising this type of reflection on a daily basis for two years. They help me a lot to calm my mind, which does not stop thinking about everything, whether it matters or not.
We don't know what our last day is, that's why I try to make everyone the best possible.☺️
Thank you so much for your visit, comment and tips. ♥️🤗 !LUV

That is a wise way to look at things. I ask myself "How important is it?" many times a day, and get upset with myself when I react to the things that shouldn't matter to me at all. Old as I am, I am still learning!

Oh yes, I think we never end our learning. I ask me the same question many times. The point is realise that you're turning away before you get lost. 😅 Practice and practice, it’s all.

If only we can always remember that life is too short to even bother about things that shouldn’t be. But as humans we always forget. I believe that as we keep learning through the things we see everyday, the tendency to be cautious of the things we do becomes imperative. Thank you for this wise reflections.

Luckily we are always in time to learn and improve. Indeed, we are human and it is in our nature to make mistakes and get lost in what does not matter but also to evolve and be a little better every day than the previous one. 😃
Thank you very much for your visit and comment. 🤗 !LUV

The last month of the year is the perfect time to think back and reflect on the happenings during the year. I have found the practice helpful too. I find the stoic philosophy really interesting. I'm learning a lot from it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Have a fantastic new week ahead!

I have been doing these brief reflections daily for more than two years and they have helped me more than therapy with professionals.
Stoic philosophy is not the solution for everything, but it has changed the way I see life and now I am calmer and more focussed. That is a lot.
Thank you for your support, a big hug dear. 🤗♥️

Great perspective and concepts as always ❤️ :)

Ah... acceptance. Yep.

I've had to stay silent for a bit because of some aggressive folks in the village who prefer women to remain subdued. And some issues to remain buried. South Africa.

But now I'm educated enough to know when and how to proceed.

And if to proceed.

Some things must just be accepted or one can end up getting into a fine mess, you know! 😬

But still... constructive action is necessary or the exact same thing can happen :D

And if to proceed.

This is key. Sometimes is better doing nothing.
I suspect we have similar character, don’t tolerate injustice or abuse, am I wrong? But we can’t resolve all the world’s problems and sometimes we are not who have to act. Everyone has his responsibility. And admit this is liberator. 😃
Thank you so much for your visit and support my dear. 🤗♥️ !LUV

Oh yeah!

And yeah!

And yeah, again!

And it also took me some years to know when and how to act. And whether to. Sometimes, it's dangerous. But one has to see things very clearly to accept this and understand systemic problems

I mean... you can't rail against one person if it's actually systemic. The whole system will come down on you. And most of society because of it.

So what you said.

Also... I've found that "right action" is usually not even action against who or what we might think it should be.

Honestly... after shouting "fuck the system" from the rooftops, after more years of healing and learning and acceptance (!), my right action has moved into education and empowering people now

I think this is the fastest way to maybe fix some problems in our societies and communities. This is the only action that makes any sense to me after trying a variety of actions that were exhausting, futile and (ultimately) self destructive because of both of those.

Saw you found @tennt :)

I think you two will get along great!! He's a lovely human. And you... well you! ❤️❤️❤️

Also... I've found that "right action" is usually not even action against who or what we might think it should be.

Bang! 😁 There is more interest in maintaining the status quo than in improving it. It’s exhausting. I don’t know how many times I said “fuck the system”, LOL.

my right action has moved into education and empowering people now

I think this is better. Make opportunities.

Yes, I found @tennt haha. I like to welcome newbies to bring them a little help. 😃

Interesting reflections. Quite right about death. What bothers us here in this world, won't do the same to us anymore. However, the effects of our actions will certainly follow us!

Stay blissful.

Life is a gift, as such we must live it, no more fear of death, because the fear of death is nothing more than knowing that you are not living it as you would like to. How well you say in your article, the best thing we can do is to move away everything that does not contribute to our purpose, because there will always be diversity, as there will always be acceptance. Thank you for your content 🙂 .

♥️🤗 !LUV

Thank you very much for this nice message. I love it when I find comments that add and complement my words. This is undoubtedly one of them. I can't agree more, let's live our life as we want it to be without thinking about anything else, because nothing else exists than this moment. ♥️🤗
