Modern or Wild Format or Both? My Seasonal Test Evaluations
I've been playing on Splinterlands since September 2019 and since the beginning I've always been primarily a player rather than an investor or collector because I enjoy playing game battles.
For this reason, I have never been a card collector and have always focused on cards that I considered useful in battle.
Therefore, I have always conducted an activity of optimizing my card collection, which today consists of:
- in selling the cards that I do not use in battle or that I do not use as worker cards in my land plots
- in buying cards that I consider useful in battle and that can be useful to me to improve my win rate and advance in Modern Format leagues.
For example, I have sold many of my cards of the Beta and Untamed editions to build a competitive card collection at least for the Gold leagues of Modern Format which is the format I like to play in because there are no bots and battle helpers.
I have partially reached my playing goal because I generally play most days of the seasons in Gold leagues but at the beginning of the seasons I almost always restart from the Silver I league and so I have to continue to increase the battle strength of my card collection if I want to reach my current playing goal on Splinterlands.
In order to increase the battle strength of my card collection, I need to purchase cards useful in modern format battles, and DEC tokens are needed to purchase Splinterlands cards from the market.
Over the past two months I have purchased several cards of the Chaos Legion and Rebellion editions and have almost exhausted the DEC tokens available to me.
In fact between my in-game wallet and Hive Engine I only have about 30K DEC.
I also have 3 active BID purchase offers that if accepted would reduce the amount of DEC available to me even more.
If I want to continue to increase the battle strength of my card collection, I absolutely have to sell some cards also because I don't want to convert my SPS tokens to DEC because I have an accumulation goal related to SPS tokens that I would like to reach: 100K SPS staked.
To choose the cards to sell I like to use as a first step the useful My cards section of https://peakmonsters.com/ in which I display my cards sorted by the Last Played attribute to have a compact and quick view of the cards I use the most and especially the cards I have not used in battle recently.
For cards that I have not used recently and that are likely my sales targets I then go to the Splinterlands site (items section) to see how long I have not used that card.
For example, today I noticed that it has been 50 days since I have used the summoner Nomos
Nomos is therefore a card that I can sell to buy other cards that I could use in battle.
Today I put Nomos up for sale but also the other summoners of the Rebellion set except Akane level 4 that I use frequently in my battles.
I had started upgrading the Rebellion set summoners before the removal of the card level cap because in the old Ranked System I used them while now I only use the maximum level summoners because I have many maximum level cards.
It is much more useful for me to sell Nomos to buy a Rebellion card that is useful in battle also because I have 7 maximum level summoners that I can use in Modern Format and having an extra monster card is much more useful to me than having an extra summoner right now.
I've also put Lorkus up for sale because, although he's a summoner I really like, he has a very high cost per BCX and I don't have the liquidity right now to upgrade him to max level and at level 1 he's not particularly useful to me.
If I will be able to sell the cards I put up for sale today I will have a lot more DEC to reinvest to increase the battle strength of my card collection.
Today I not only put some of my cards up for sale but also made low cost upgrades of some Chaos Legion cards that could be useful to me in battle in Modern Format such as River Nymph.
In my card collection I have River Nymph level 4 (=25 BCX) + another 20 BCX.
I decided to upgrade River Nymph to the maximum level and purchased 85 BCX at a total cost of $1,750 = 2058.82 DEC (- cashback: 49.41 DEC).
River Nymph is in my opinion a good buy considering the relative low cost for BCX because:
- there are only six cards with the Cleanse ability that can be used in Modern Format and only 2 with magic attack
- there are only 9 cards with the Swiftness ability usable in the Modern Format
River Nymph of level 8 could be very useful to me in battles with the Little League ruleset and also in some battles with the Noxious Fumes ruleset because even though River Nymph will last at most two rounds it will still be useful to remove poisoning from my card in first position.
After my upgrade I used River Nymph of level 8 in a battle where I decided to rely heavily on the speed of Coeurl Lurker in the first position and Pelacor Bandit in the last position, and River Nymph together with the summoner allowed me to amplify even more the speed factor which was the element that allowed me to win the battle that you can see in the screenshot below.

L'ottimizzazione della mia collezione di carte: vendo le carte che non uso per acquistare altre carte
Gioco su Splinterlands dal settembre 2019 e fin dall'inizio ho sempre rivestito principalmente il ruolo del giocatore più che di investitore o collezionista perchè mi diverto a giocare le battaglie di gioco.
Per questo motivo non sono mai stato un collezionista di carte e ho sempre focalizzato il mio interesse sulle carte che consideravo utili in battaglia.
Ho quindi sempre portato avanti un'attività di ottimizzazione della mia collezione di carte che oggi consiste:
- nel vendere le carte che non uso in battaglia o che non uso come worker cards nei miei land plots
- nell'acquistare le carte che considero utili in battaglia e che possono essermi utili per migliorare il mio win rate e avanzare nelle leghe del Modern Format.
Ad esempio ho venduto molte mie carte delle edizioni Beta e Untamed per costruirmi una collezione di carte competitiva almeno per le leghe Gold del Modern Format che è il formato in cui mi piace giocare perchè non ci sono bots e battle helpers.
Ho parzialmente raggiunto il mio obiettivo di gioco perchè generalmente gioco la maggior parte dei giorni delle stagioni nelle leghe Gold ma all'inizio delle stagioni riparto quasi sempre dalla lega Silver I e quindi devo continuare ad aumentare la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte se voglio raggiungere il mio obiettivo attuale di gioco su Splinterlands.
Per aumentare la forza della mia collezione di carte devo acquistare carte utili nelle battaglie del modern format e per acquistare le carte di Splinterlands dal mercato sono necessari i token DEC.
Negli ultimi due mesi ho acquistato diverse carte delle edizioni Chaos Legion e Rebellion e ho quasi esaurito i token DEC a mia disposizione.
Infatti tra il mio in-game wallet e Hive Engine ho solo circa 30K DEC.
Ho anche 3 offerte di acquisto BID attive che se accettate ridurrebbero ancora di più il quantitativo di DEC a mia disposizione.
Se voglio continuare ad aumentare la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte devo assolutamente vendere alcune carte anche perchè non voglio convertire i miei token SPS in DEC perchè ho un obiettivo di accumulo relativo ai token SPS che vorrei raggiungere: 100K SPS staked.
Per scegliere le carte da vendere mi piace utilizzare come primo step l'utile sezione My cards di https://peakmonsters.com/ nella quale visualizzo le mie carte ordinate in base all'attributo Last Played per avere una visione compatta e veloce delle carte che uso di più e sopratutto delle carte che non ho usato in battaglia recentemente.
Per le carte che non ho usato recentemente e che sono probabili miei obiettivi di vendita vado poi sul sito di Splinterlands (sezione Items) per vedere da quanto tempo non uso quella carta.
Ad esempio oggi ho notato che sono 50 giorni che non uso l'evocatore del set Rebellion Nomos.
Nomos è quindi una carta che posso vendere per acquistare altre carte che potrei utilizzare in battaglia.
Oggi ho messo in vendita Nomos ma anche gli altri evocatori del set Rebellion tranne Akane di livello 4 che uso frequentemente nelle mie battaglie.
Avevo iniziato l'upgrade degli evocatori del set Rebellion prima della rimozione del card level cap perchè nel vecchio Ranked System li utilizzavo mentre adesso uso solo gli evocatori di massimo livello perchè ho molte carte di massimo livello.
E' molto più utile per me vendere Nomos per acquistare una carta Rebellion utile in battaglia anche perchè ho 7 evocatori di massimo livello che posso utilizzare nel Modern Format e avere una carta mostro in più mi è molto più utile che avere un evocatore in più in questo momento.
Ho anche messo in vendita Lorkus perchè, anche se è un evocatore che mi piace molto, ha un costo per BCX molto alto e non ho in questo momento la liquidità per portarlo al massimo livello e al livello 1 non è particolarmente utile per me.
Se riuscirò a vendere le carte che ho messo in vendita oggi avrò molti più DEC da reinvestire per aumentare la forza in battaglia della mia collezione di carte.
Oggi non ho solo messo in vendita alcune mie carte ma ho anche fatto degli upgrade low cost di alcune carte Chaos Legion che potrebbero essermi utili in battaglia nel Modern Format come ad esempio River Nymph.
Nella mia collezione di carte ho River Nymph di livello 4 (=25 BCX) + altri 20 BCX.
Ho deciso di fare l'upgrade di River Nymph al livello massimo e ho acquistato 85 BCX al costo totale di 1.750$ = 2058.82 DEC (- cashback: 49.41 DEC).
River Nymph è secondo me un buon acquisto considerato il relativo basso costo per BCX perchè:
- ci sono solo sei carte con l'abilità Cleanse utilizzabili nel Modern Format e solo 2 con attacco magico
- ci sono solo 9 carte con l'abilità Swiftness utilizzabili nel Modern Format
River Nymph di livello 8 potrebbe essermi molto utile nelle battaglie con la ruleset Little League e anche in alcune battaglie con la ruleset Noxious Fumes perchè anche se River Nymph durerà al massimo due round sarà comunque utile per rimuovere l'avvelenamento dalla mia carta in prima posizione.
Dopo il mio upgrade ho utilizzato River Nymph di livello 8 in una battaglia in cui ho deciso di puntare molto sulla velocità di Coeurl Lurker in prima posizione e Pelacor Bandit in ultima posizione e River Nymph insieme all'evocatore mi hanno permesso di amplificare ancora di più il fattore velocità che è stato l'elemento che mi ha permesso di vincere la battaglia che puoi vedere nello screenshot seguente.

Those are some decent decisions. I think it's a good decision to sell the cards that you don't use too much. I haven't really touched those dual element summoners either.

E grazie a questo ragionamento ho venduto tante carte che ora valgono poco e che non avrei usato mantenendo una collezione mediamente competitiva nelle leghe Gold del MF.
Se i tuoi evocatori di livello 1 li usi puoi assolutamente tenerli secondo me ;)

Wanting to reach 100k staked SPS and still needing to buy more cards to at least advance to diamond, it's a lot of strategic thinking, spending and buying. I hope you can be able to get it done. Since older generation cards are not useful to you, it just makes sense to sell them and take the money

Even though you don’t have the liquidity to upgrade the Lorkus card, can’t you continue to make use of it like that?
At level 1 it is not useful for me because to use maximum level monster cards I need a maximum level summoner and instead of using level 1 lorkus I have a much higher chance of winning battles using my maximum level summoners

I don't know much about Splinterlands. Because Splinterlance was at its peak when I entered here. It is not possible for me to even buy one of his cards.
