See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil šŸ’™

Monday, 22nd of January 2024 [114]

I looked through my mentions notifications and noticed that the theme for this weekā€™s #pobphotocontest organised by @friendlymoose is BLUE!

Blue is my all time favourite colour. Thatā€™s the reason why I end all my posts with blue heart šŸ’™. I love blue flowers, blue pots, my water bottle is blue and of course tons of my clothes are in various shades of blue. For someone with winter-type of beauty blue colour is perfect, plus is matches my blue eyes, although donā€™t worry, I wonā€™t make a selfie of my blue eyes while wearing blue jacket, which I currently have on me for this purpose šŸ˜‰

When typing ā€˜blueā€™ in my photo album, of course there are mainly photos of blue sky. The search feature still need a lot of work I recon. I picked various pictures where there were not much blue in sight, while it skipped the obvious blueā€™s. Like this one for example:

Cute little budhaā€™s portraying famous: ā€˜See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evilā€™ Japanese proverb. In the original, there are three monkey figures:

  • Mizaru,
  • Kikazaru,
  • Iwazaru.

I do love this budhaā€™s version of it though šŸ˜ These 3 cuties live in my Brazilian friendā€™s balcony. She always has beautiful decorations in her surroundings. Below are couple more of figurines that decorate her balcony:

I took those pictures a while ago, although I never happened to post them and today is a perfect opportunity to use them.

Another capture I was thinking to enter POB contest with is that funny one of Alfie in one of his weird sleeping positions! I know, heā€™s not blue, but his bowtie is blue and there is a blue box behind him too, so it captured my blue focused eye when I saw it:

Also a picture I took not ever suspecting I will use it in a post. A while ago I was getting very agitated with the cars that parked right ourside my drive and/or on the other side of the road, where there are clear double yellow lines indicating no parking allowed. Delivery tracks of neighbours and sometimes even huge lorries were blantly ignoring the double yellows and I took this picture to moan to the council about it. Not sure if I used it for this purpose, but I still have a picture and it is BLUE!

And of course, there is rarely a post of mine with no flowers, so letā€™s check some of my favourite blue flowers - Lobelia. When I first move to my house these were growing in my garden and I fell in love with them from the first sight. How could I not? Theyā€™re such an amazing, deep blue cuties:

I was hoping they will be coming back each year and dueing some mild winters then manage to stay and greet me with their cuteness in the next season, but most of the time I just go to garden centre and buy a few plugs of those to scatter around my flower pots. They just never disappoint with the abundance of little blooms throughout the season.

And some random light blue flowers I captured at the garden centre. Not as intensly blue as Lobelia, but also pleasant:

To end this post with more blue, here is one of my favourite pots. Itā€™s a simple, plastic one that I purchased some flowers in it, but I do love the contrast it gives to yellow or orange flowers I usually grow in it and it always makes me smile when I glance at it while sipping my morning coffee/tea on my front porch. Hope you like it too!

Thatā€™s it. A bit of a random post today, full of various blue objects, but hey ho, there has to be some randomness in our lives too!

#pobphotocontest runs on a weekly basis, with new theme announced each Sunday. If youā€™d like to participate in this weekā€™s BLUE theme, please head over to the announcement post to read all the rules of the contest!

Until next time šŸ’™

So I always thought that this was to not see, speak or hear evil. I took it literally. As we humans do.

What does it mean to you? ;) #curious

Great minds think alike Nicky! I also took it very literally, cause considering nothing is good or bad but all just is and itā€™s our perception that dictates what is and isnā€™t evil, then it makes total sense.

Although when I was reading about it before posting yesterday, wikipedia said some used this phrase to describe people who turn a blind eye on things.

I think your first assessment may be more on target, actually :) I didn't think of this perspective. Thanks for sharing. Now I'll have to give it more thought šŸ¤« You are clever!

My understanding was that we shouldn't see (? - which doesn't make sense); speak or hear (? which also doesn't make sense) any evil.

I actually used it for this perspective but I don't think it's meant to be this. Mine was a creative use of it...

Glad I'm not alone! :D

My understanding when I asked was that, if we practice non-judgement and get to know ourselves well enough, we begin to understand other people's action with compassion.

I guess we will never know what it means in full unless we ask the artist

The truth usually lies somewhere in between and with our own growth we see next possible layers to each truth or proverbs and even lyrics of the song. Even the artist him/herself might not know what they tapped into in their creative endeavours šŸ˜šŸ’™

These 3 Buddhas are indeed wonderful and lovely! šŸ„°
All three look somewhat happy, well the 2 to the left, and the one to the right is happy, no doubt about that šŸ™ƒ

I also love having vibrant blue in the garden scape. There is something soothing and inviting by adding blue. Years ago I was inspired by a womanā€™s tour of here English gardens and she had so many blues throughout. Ever since then I am hooked. Love your Buddha buddies.

Nice entries! It's always great to see flowers, especially because it's winter over there right now. Great pictures!

Yeah, I thought so too. The other weekend I got sucked into my phone stories, where my phone picked up various themes like flower, woods, golden hour, 2023 highlights and created those lovely videos grouping the pictures out of my 10k shots in the camera and a enjoyed watching them. That in turn inspired me to write some stuff using some of my older pictures that I never used šŸ˜šŸ’™
