Building a Molecular Model of Hydrogen Sulfide

I built a molecular model of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) using a ball-and-stick molecular modeling kit. I used one yellow ball to represent the sulfur atom and two white balls to represent the hydrogen atoms. I connected the two hydrogen atoms to the central sulfur atom with two bonding rods. In my model, the sulfur atom is in the center, with the two hydrogen atoms attached at an angle rather than in a straight line, showing the bent shape of the molecule.

The extra openings around the sulfur atom reflect that sulfur has additional electron pairs, which influence the molecule’s shape even though they are not shown as separate atoms. Building this model helped me understand how hydrogen sulfide is arranged and why its shape is bent.
