Today I fancied going for a walk with my brother and my little dog Duke; I’d been meaning to take Duke for a walk for ages – I felt I owed it to him 😆. From the moment his collar jingled, Duke couldn’t contain his excitement; he kept moving towards the front door as if to show me the way out, and I’m always amazed by how clever he is. I wonder: how does he know I was holding the lead to take him for a walk and not to give him a bath? I suppose it’s because of the position of the sun, as it was getting dark and I don’t usually give him a bath at this time of day.
He really enjoyed the walk; at first he was barking uncontrollably out of excitement, but then he calmed down and started sniffing everything: plants, fences, electricity poles and, of course, whilst sniffing, he was also marking his territory with a little squirt of wee. I don’t know where he gets so much from, but it lasts until we reach the park, about two and a half kilometres away. 🤭

The park was packed; there were loads of people: children playing, young people exercising, mums with their babies playing in the playground, so I decided to turn around and rest in a grassy area away from the crowds, so that Duke could have a proper rest. The walk did me good too: it calmed my mind for a while and I returned home tired yet, at the same time, feeling light-hearted and happy to have taken my flesh-and-blood family out for a walk. 😅😁.
