Solar Eclipse - My Actifit Report Card: August 12 2026

Hey Actifitters,

Yesterday started strong: for once I was awake much earlier, and decided to go for a run right away to avoid the suffocating heat later in the day. Nothing major, but around 6km, with the overall pace still close to 5:30 min/km, I was surprised. Considering the facts I hadn't run for a few days, that even though it wasn't super hot yet, it wasn't cool either, and that unlike my usual very flat Michigan runs, this one wasn't flat at all, it wasn't bad at all! For sure, better than I thought it'd be. Anyways, after a decent run, how about breakfast on the balcony again? Also before it gets too hot. Perfect, at least that's what Sam seemed to think.

Especially with this view over my favorite hills! By the way, it was the first time that day that I thought 'why is this damn chimney in the way?...'

Much further in the distance, a neighbor cat also was enjoying this beautiful morning. I was a bit worried because it was a second-story window but I guess this cat is most likely used to it.

Nothing much to report for the next few hours, some work, several meetings, a little swimming and way too much heat!
I had planned to walk to the fields just above to enjoy a great spot for the sun eclipse. By the way, in case anybody's wondering: no, I didn't time my trip to catch the eclipse, it was just a happy coincidence. But I had forgotten about another meeting, just around the same time. So we ended up watching the eclipse from the balcony, the very same we had breakfast at in the morning. Turns out it was a very nice spot.

Finally, even before the eclipse was over, the sun went behind the hills and the whole thing turned into a beautiful sunset.

Now can you see how annoying this chimney is...

Or maybe that's a cool subject in the foreground with the sunset in the background, not sure.

And after a few more meetings, that long day was finally over. It was a tiring day but a nice one. And the eclipse was a cool bonus!
