I'm not going to talk about yesterday because today was a horrible day at the nursery.
I never say that. No matter how bad the day was, I would always say that my day was good and I enjoyed my day at the nursery.
But today is a different story.
Today was a horrible day at the nursery.
My day started as usual, like every day I woke up at 7am, I got cleaned, I got fresh, and then I had my breakfast and I was out for the nursery.
When I reached my nursery, I noticed that the storm drains across the street were overflowing and all the water was flowing in front of my nursery.
I tried a lot of stuff to get the water to go away but I couldn't because one of the storm drains broke down, was clogged, I don't know what happened, and all the water was going overflowing and I had a really bad day because of that.
I had very few customers because obviously the water was there and people didn't want to ruin their clothes.
I spent half my day calling all the departments that could help me, but honestly, none of them were able to help me.
I first called the underground sewage department and they refused to deal with the situation because they only deal with household waste and sewage. They do not deal with stormwater or rainwater.
The next step was to call all the numbers that I had that were related to sanitation and cleaning and I was hoping that they would help me, but none of them were able to help me until I called one of the municipal corporators and he assured me that he would take personal interest into it and make sure that the whole street was clean.
And in fact, he did that. He got the workers and they cleaned the whole nursery and I was so, so relaxed.
As soon as the routes were cleared and the storm water stopped, I started to get new customers.
Today was not the best of days for my business, but I got a few sales and I'm happy about that.
In the afternoon, I had a client who needed some repair works on his lawn.
Because of heavy rain, some of the area in his garden had some damaged lawn. He wanted me to remove it and then put a new grass mat.
I went to buy some lawn mats and we encountered a problem there. The mini truck or whatever you call it got stuck in mud and it was not able to come out of it.
We had to bring help and it took more than an hour until I was finished and ready to take the lawn to my destination.
Once I was at the client's home, I assessed the situation and got to know what the problem was and why the lawn was dying off.
And I got to know that there was some water logging and you might know that lawns or grass doesn't like stagnant water and hence the yellowing of the grass and eventually it dried off.
We had to remove all the old pieces of mat and then add new ones.
I instructed my worker on how to deal with the dried lawn and explained it to him how and what he needed to do.
And he was happy to do everything that I had asked him to do.
The worker did a pretty good job, but we ran out of some lawn mats, and I had forgotten to take some vermicompost or worm castings for the lawn.
I added it to my to-do list to buy some vermicompost for the lawn.
By the end of the day, I was tired, I needed rest, I needed to relax, and I came home early.
But before I came home, I saw the clouds, and it started to rain eventually.
And I think I did a pretty good job completing all my work, and then coming back home early, having my dinner, and then getting ready for tomorrow.
So that's all for today.
I did a pretty good job at handling the nursery, at troubleshooting the dried-off grass lawn, and then taking care of all the things at the site.
When I reached home, I was so tired and now I am unable to sleep.
But I am happy that the water issue was resolved today itself, because if it wasn't resolved, then I would lose a lot of customers and a lot of time behind everything.
I have learned through experience that business is all about troubleshooting all the issues that come with it and never letting go.
Tomorrow I have some more maintenance work at another client, and I'm excited about that.
I need to go back to bed right now, and I'll come back tomorrow and share more information about how to grow an orange plant.
Until then, take care, see you tomorrow, Dasvidaniya.
P.S. My trees are doing great, because it's been raining.
The government has issued orange threat level in my area, and it might rain for the next few days.
In the end, remember to always smile, to always laugh, to always make sure that your family is doing great, and spend something.
